The v6 is just fine. Don't bust your ass for a GT if you can't afford it. Of course it sounds beast and it's fast as hell, but how often are you going to be racing or driving 100mph+ anyways?!? I think 305hp is plenty!!!

I'm really sick of seeing people saying "Why didn't you go with the V8" Like if their obligated to explain why they didn't... Um..maybe because a V8 version cost more, maybe because the insurance will cost more, maybe because it has a lower MPG,maybe because a 5.0 can be more expensive to fix if something did happen.. So when someone ask me that question I say "Why do you think I didn't "

All comes down to the community your in and the immaturity the people you talk to. That's what my friend says when I got into my full license, which I'm allowed to drive any high performance cars. He tells me "why don't you buy like a V8 commodore" then I said "mate are you joking...why you suggesting me something that doesn't suit my needs, in fact why can't you buy this car since your opinion said so" later on realizes his license is restricted to driving turbo and 8 cylinder cars. lol

Right! Some people are too dumb to realize, you can't dislike the v6 and like the v8. They're the same body with little difference. As for the engine, it's all hidden underneath the body.......... one thing i will say Mustang V6 Does have performance to. but it wont be faster then a v8. we all know that. but main question is whats the point of getting the v8 when you have to pay way more money on higher grade fuel. higher insurance. higher car payment. plus if your going to race in it might as well go to a drag strip. thats just my 2 cents. and no im not saying v8's are bad cars. my point is why break the bank on a v8 when you can get a v6 that still has performance as well. unless you have the money to afford it go for it. but prepair for some high payments and maintenance.

@1flynlow, no that is not what "optional" means when talking about cars. The 6 speed manual is standard equipment on the Mustang. You pay more for an automatic so that is an option. Another example is cloth vs leather seats. The cloth seats are standard equipment and you can pay more for leather, thus we call leather an option.

When I was looking for a new car, I originally purchased an 07 GT, but because of my age (I'm 18) my insurance would be crazy... not to mention the gas it took to run the thing, especially with my heavy foot lol. I traded it in for an 09 convertible, and I love it, perhaps those who need to "compensate" feel the need to take a GT, but unless you race your car there is no real need for the extra power. The first V6 Mustang came in 1974 in the Mustang II and it was a 2.8 liter. The 6 cyl available in the original Mustang was a 200ci (3.3 liter) and it was an INLINE 6. Regardless, the first one off the line was a 260 V8. The 200ci straight 6 returned in 1979 and was gone by 1982. The 3.8 was introduced in '83 and lasted until 2001 when it was updated into a 3.9. Then came the 4.0 in 2005 and 3.7 in '11. Thats your 6cyl Mustang lesson of the day.

I have a V6 with Pony package. It has the Pirelli Nero Zero tires. The Car takes turns very well. V6 is much lighter than the GT and it takes corners a little better, so I have heard. I have not been in a GT so I couldn't exactly say. V6 gets better gas mileage and Insurance is also cheaper. For about $5000 you can add a Super Charger and have a faster, lighter car and still save on insurance and fuel.

It's also potentially 10,000 more, at least in Canada. A better comparison would be the 2.0t based on price and HP

Want a gt but I'd rather get a premium v6

No kidding, getting 305 horsepower in a V6 is pretty good.

Even though the exhaust on the V6 does a good job making the car sound like a muscle car and not a Japanese tuner, it still cant beat the roar of the V8.

Awesome! I bought my first Mustang GT from Town and Country in 2002.

This is in response to the V6 verses the V8 mustang comments. Have you seen the comparison of the GT verses the V6 from 0 to 60? It is only 2 seconds different. If you live on open land where you can use the horsepower at a high speed, the the GT is fine, but if you live in the city, going from light to light with little highway, then the V6 is perfect..especially with better gas mileage...besides 303 horsepower is alot for a small car.

Me too. I chose the '12. I prefer the shark-style front fascia. Most do like the GT500-style front. I begin to like '13 though. Hopefully, they will still be around as 2014 model. I probably will buy that too if the '15 model doesn't turn me on. BTW. I have an '08 GT. Something about it that I still love it.
