I got my 2010 SHO from my mother, at 86 years old it really wasn't a good car for her, lives in nursing home with Limo service. It only has 52K miles on it, need to replace front bumper as it is cracked from several encounters, she had with parking lot light poles. It was my stepfather's dream car, he died one year after buying it. So far, I am loving the ride, I surprise a lot of people who try to blow by me, taught that lesson to a Mustang the other day, left him dazed and confused in my rear-view mirror.

Bought my 2015 Taurus SHO about 3 months ago, $15k only 56k miles. Came without PP but had all the driver assist options. Was surprisingly used as a taxi car in Chicago, was originally from Texas brand new. Pros: This car smokes everybody when I gun it at the lights. Heated, cooled, and massaging seats. The AWD helps out a lot. Parallel park assist, pre collison and lane keep. Came with remote start standard. Engine had no chain stretch. Cons: Tires are expensive. Not the greatest gas mileage, but it's not the worst. Turbo lag. Needed a catch can. Had to replace all fluids and plugs and coils(Was my choice though). It does shudder on a cold day but it's the intercooler, and I plan on upgrading in the future. All in all, I have put almost 6k miles on it, and enjoy it very much. My future plans include, noisemaker deletion, gearhead tune, and gear head intercooler (When it's not out of stock). But I don't plan on going too crazy with the mods since it is my daily.

I can understand the hate/disappointment with the car, but you said it yourself that this car is a sleeper and flies under the radar. The real gem of it is the engine. Lots of people out there getting 400+ whp with just a tune and minor bolt-ons. It’s not built to handle well, it’s built to go very quick in a straight line. It’s very American if you will and it’s a very niche vehicle for a specific buyer. Little fun fact, these can hand the same year Mustangs their lunch on a drag strip with little work done to them.

This is certainly a unique car. Firstly, a twin turbo system should eliminate turbo lag, due to the amount of airflow two turbos are able to produce when spooling simultaneously. Secondly, a simple $500.00 tune changes Ford's stock throttle response & how the transmission shifts. Ford apparently focused on tuning this car to feel smooth, graceful, and luxurious as it accelerates, so the car does not accelerate to its potential due to the stock tune. These cars were designed to compete with Dodge's Charger R/T line-up, in terms of acceleration, while offering a luxurious alternative to the sporty design of the Charger. Unfortunately, this concept did not appeal to the public. Most individuals seeking a powerful sedan tend to opt for a sporty feel over a luxurious one.
@timw20833 жыл бұрын

The front axle will go out if you havnt changed the oil in it every 20k miles... it costs $3k to fix. Ford denied this until a year ago, so if you test drive one and the front makes a grunt or you smell oil when you look at engine, get them to knock down the price $3k. Actually all Ford AWD has this issue. I speak from experience. I love that car... just be careful. Also, the 3.5 will run forever UNLESS someone ran the hell out of it and didn’t change oil on time. I own a 2016 with 20k miles myself, and like the car, so I'm not trying to hate on it, but the one thing I would warn people buying a SHO with that high of mileage, is plan to keep several thousand dollars extra in your bank account to deal with repairs if they come up. The SHO is a pretty good quality car, but the cost of repairs on this vehicle is NOT cheap. Just look up what it costs to change a water pump on this car and you will see what I mean. Also, the car has twin turbos, even assuming the previous owner kept up with the oil changes and put the right oil in, turbos go out usually around 150k miles or within 10 years (although the SHO uses Garetts, so they may last a bit longer). Again, not trying to hate on this car, just don't buy an older, high mileage one, and think the cost of repairs are going to be as cheap as a Buick LeSabre with a 3800 V6 or something.

I never minded these but recently got a regular 3.5 V6 FWD model at work as a used trade in check over, it was nice but I definitely would take my Maxima any day over it. I assumed the interior was spacious from looking at the outside and was shocked to see how little interior room there was. Over all nice car, just not for me. Great review as always.

Sunroof delete doesn’t always mean it’s more ridged. Automakers nowadays put extra bracings on sunroof & convertibles cars

Little bit late to the video but I just today got a 2011 Lincoln MKS to replace that Focus ST that got totalled and so far I really like it! It's the same powertrain as the SHO, but the interior is I'd argue FAR superior to the SHO! If you ever end up out in the Charlotte area feel free to hit me up, I'd be glad to show it to you!

10-20k depending on mileage these things were 40k new but they depreciated like crazy really thinking about picking one up, doesn't seem like there's a lot of info out there about long term reliability is the only thing that worries me but at the end of the day its an overbuilt ford truck engine so im sure its pretty good.

I really don't like the styling of the 13+ at all. The 2010-12 is where it's at. Way nicer looking wheels and way more sleek looking. The rear wing is much better as well.

You hardly need to do anything to get 400 hp. They are kinda detuned raptor motors I belive. Stock I feel like it wait to pull in higher rims so you can drive it nice if you want and it only goes when you want it to

Most police I talked to complained Taurus wasn't big enough missed their Crown Vics. I never liked Taurus but the SHO is a different animal kinda like it 4 wheel drive and all the toys on it as u say need an extended warranty cause of complexity. High performance and luxury imprtant to me. I have Marauder that fits that bill for now. Enjoyed yr great review.

Yea this is def a little short on rear leg room unfortunately and yes I do like the SHO it's an interesting choice in the used segment but a Marauder is epic I would def like to check one out soon. Thanks again my friend!

No style or swagger..? So your more of a sports car guy. As a family Saran it has tons more style & swagger than a Chrysler 300c imo. You need to compare the styling to other family sedans.

Hey… just have a question. I recently saw a 2012 Taurus SHO on sale. It’s around $18,000. It only has 14,000 miles on it! Looked at the CARFAX and auto check reports, car is legit with the miles. The car is a 2012, hasn’t been driven much. Would you purchase that car? Obviously the car being a twin turbo and all. Thank you much appreciated!
@Pierson1162 жыл бұрын
The pre 2013 SHOs aren't as good, they are the pre-facelifted ones and aren't as refined, which is why they are less desirable and expensive than the 2013 and newer.

In fact I do like the look of this car the only reason why I didn't buy it. I find out that the V6 engine designed with water pump within it. And it is a very pricey repair when it comes to pump replacement. To be honest I'm not sure if this specific model engine designed this way?!! But I just decided to stay away from 6 cylinder Ford all together. I'm a used cars buyer and I think even warranty won't save from the expenses repair!!

This cars performance for a large car is Outstanding , it is Very Quiet and Comfortable on Benz level. It pulls out of the hole almost everything and your comparison is tainted. You cannot find a car this quiet and this fast that can out ride, out drive or beat this car and it's reliability for the money, the dollar value is legit and even unmatched, so much for your opinion.
