@@ndavies5968 A common problem in the Gen2 Fits as well? I saw posts for Gen1 Fits with ABS pump issues. I like the HR-Vs a lot and even the newer Fits (at least the safety tech aspect and more horsepower, etc.), but I wanted to pay cash only for now as I don't have my credit built up at the moment. @Em22-wtf4 жыл бұрын
Lol! I was thinking of buying a Fit last month when I found out the guy I got my last car from had one coming up for sale...I also noticed in my complex parking lot in the visitor spot, there was someone that was visiting for the last week that had a Honda Fit with Fla plates (Im in Mass, there were window stickers so I knew it wasn't a rental) and I thought who better to ask than someone that owns one, esp where they drove here from Fla! I never ran into them though so the day I was going to test drive it I left a note on the windshield just saying I was thinking of buying one and testing it later, but figured I'd try leaving my number if they didn't mind telling me what they thought (the guy whose lot it was on is also a family friend and said I may not like it, its a 5 speed, but he said it tacs high in the highway so he thought it was a "city car" & I may want to drive it on the highway 1st so I was nervous about that) of the car. Well, I went to the test drive and the Fit owner hadn't called by this time. I took it for a spin and didnt really notice anything big when I took it on the highway, then again, he apparently forgot to put air in the tires bc the tire pressure light was on and it shook like hell when I tried to go over 60, so that ended my test drive, but when I got back he said it did need a new front tire, he was having a hard time getting that size bc of the virus, his tire guy was out. I loved the car anyway and new the tire situation would be fixed. That evening the Fit owner called and after laughing about the strange note on her car, she was in the next bldg over visiting from Fla and to come out so she could show me some things, LOL! I was like Okay...lol! Well, she had bought it last yr used (2013) and she recently discovered the seats flipped forward and wanted to show me bc I wasn't buying it from someone who drove it and the dealer prob didn't know this secret either, lol! She ended up being the sweetest lady! I figured, I mean, she's a "Honda person" so....how can she not be! Turns out, the car I was buying and her car was the same yr, only difference was mine is stick, hers is auto. She previously had a Honda Crv I think she said and it was over 300k when the seats were literally rotting out of it, lol, and she gave it to a family member who then used it as a race car at the local track and raced it quite a few times before he crashed it in the demolition I belive...with well over 300K! My first standard and the first car I bought on my own was a '90 Honda Civic 2 door hatch 4 speed and that car by far has always been my fav! I had it for years and literally cried the day I had to drive it to the junkyard with 198K not knowing then what I know now, but well that was then. Now, I have another Honda hatchback and I hope to have it for MANY yrs to come! Im actually having a slight issue with it now where it shakes upon starting it, but then smooths out when it warms up a few minutes, but then it hesitates on the highway slightly when Im driving along. I was told it sounds like the timing, so I contacted the place I got it bc its only been 3 weeks. I have to call his mechanic Tues and Im not driving it til Im bringing it to him. Its funny bc before I bought it, I called MY mechanic and asked if he heard anything bad about Honda Fit and he said no, Hondas are a good car, but then asked about miles which is a little over 73k and he did say if the timing hasnt been done, they do need to be done around 70k, and not to wait bc if it went itll ruin the motor...so of course now Im worried because I noticed the shaking maybe a week after I bought, but thought maybe it was the gas I put in bc I wasn't paying attention and put reg instead of super gas in it and filled up, but I let it go down to almost E and filled with Super and it still did it! Then I got new tires the other day bc it still needed a tire and the guy I got it from would have just put a used tire and with winter coming I just had 4 new tires put on it now rather than a month from now and I STILL noticed the hesitation, very slightly, on the highway, ugh! So when I started it this morning and it seemed to be a little more shaking when I first start it, I text the guy whose lot I got it from and drove to work slowly and home and now wont drive it until Im driving it to the mechanic. I hope nothing was done in the meantime, but I didnt think it'd be such a big problem already after only having the car 2 weeks, you'd think all this stuff would be done and gone through and that if the timing is a known thing at 70K and its a 73K, the place I got it would have done it before they sold it, right?!

Love my 2012 Fit Sport. It's NOT a BMW, so don't expect plush, quiet interiors or fast acceleration. Minor gripes are road noise, useless sun visor. Wish it had an overhead center console or option for a sun roof. Factory tint would be nice. But for the reliability, gas mileage, spaciousness, design, versatility, can't beat it.
