My GS Coupe was actually around 17k after some negotiating. The GS still included an automatic, bluetooth handsfree calling and streaming, and heated seats. The only reason the car is $23k here is because it has a sunroof, keyless entry with push button start, heated seats, leather seats, navigation, backup camera, and premium sound with a "sport tuned" suspension and 17" wheels. The top of the line Civic EX-L with navi looks spartan in comparison, while the Civic is still more expensive.

I like your reviews--you give both the pluses and the minuses in any car. Very good.

Would you get this or the Kia Forte Koup if you had to choose?
@JoshJW1112 жыл бұрын
Im sorry im not sure if you guys are joking here or not but i have to clear this up SS is Chevy (GM), SRT is Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge, and Ford doesn't really have a performance line but they have their SHO and ecoboost engines that pack a punch! :-)

I was mainly talking between the Hyundai/Kia twins haha. I used to own a Gen 1 tC which was a nice car. The Gen2.. Honestly, needs improvement.

Great review, as always. One thing that did really bug me, though, is the background music. I don't know what you've been using in the past, but this was a little distracting and made me antsy. Maybe I'm just weird. Keep up the good work, Steve!

I agree, a better engine or even a turbo would be great in this car. I'm sure it could easily compete with the Civic Si then. Just make sure it has the option of a stick or automatic.
@davidhalifax12 жыл бұрын
I agree. Hopefully Steve could do a review of the Elantra GT which is supposed to be based on a different platform and driving dynamic, while providing more practicality at the same time.

the seat backs when he folds them down shows the quality in materials used on this car are not that good I wasn't sure if the trunk lining was even attached the way it moved... ehh not many small coupes to choose from so its a start but I am happy with the quality of my scion over Hyundai...

That's why most people buy used cars =] If somebody can't afford to buy something without financing for 8 years they should buy pre-owned.

I think Steve needs to be more critical about reviewing these cars, I want to hear more about each car's compromises! Great review as always though.

well it comes down to if you're looking for a bit more power or gas mileage.. the forte is more powerful but at the expense of mpgs. the elantra is more efficient but definitely slower. however the elantra has a better interior imo.

thats not the point i was cleverly mocking your subaru forester by saying its design looks like it could have looked bad in 2005
@cyclingzen12 жыл бұрын
did you read my previous comment THERE'S OPTIONAL 4 WHEEL DRIVE and the 2013 models 4 wheel drive is much more advanced then your 2005 subaru forester thats when it came out right?
@cyclingzen12 жыл бұрын
its called getting it with 4 wheel drive duh.. the cars i mentioned are newer and have better off wheel drive systems than the forester maybe not the outback but indefinably better than a forester

This Elantra Coupe & it's cousin the Forte Koup are great potential platforms for Hyundai/Kia to enter the fray against the Civic Si. I can imagine what the 201hp mill form the Veloster turbo would do to boost the performance in these two, or even the 270+hp 2.0 turbo GDI from the Sonata to truly get after the likes of Mazdaspeed3's & Golf R's!!! Hint-hint, Korea!

dream on. few people choose v6 cars and as a result most auto makers are doing away with v6. v8? only a distance memory.
@mikeb103111 жыл бұрын
well automakers are not moving away from v8s nor v6s in sports cars. increasing technological advances allow four cylinders to make more power than ever before, which was my main point. i understand why they are more popular. but currently, six and eight cylinders still blow four cylinders out of the water in terms of ability to make power, which is why i want to see a v8 in the genesis coupe. for the elantra/civic types, four cylinders all the way. it leaves more room for sports cars with v8s

Hyundai!!! Please, please, please put the 1.6 Turbo from the Tiburon here. This car with 200HP would be a killer!!!!! Or do that just for the SE while the rest of the line up keeps the 1.8. You would sell this like hot potatoes.
@omarns12 жыл бұрын
thats a good price considering how much you get
@mikeb103111 жыл бұрын
agreed, hyundai can destroy the civic si and open up a whole new market with the elantra coupe. i would love to see the coupe model with a 2L 200 hp turbo. even better, the genesis coupe with a 5L v8. the v6 is already fast. hyundai/kia need to keep expanding

this one needs Si Version, or whatever Super Sport Version how about that Veloster Turbo engine or Sonata's 2.4L? that would be an Insane Elantra

there's no point in buying an elantra focus or dart much better option for the same price

the front bumper reminds me of those mid 90s hondas that has those horrible aftermarket body kits. Other than that the body style is on par with the 8th generation civic but not the 9th.

I can not believe how overpriced ALL CARS have become! The car industry pushes you to spend more and forces ppl to finance for 7-8 years. It's disgusting

Hyundai indeed makes cool cars. But they are nowhere near quality in the long run. I've read countless complaints about how components fail and the dealerships don't want to pay for it, even when it's under the warranty. Clearly hyundai just uses the warranty phrase to sell. Btw have you tested the elantra GT yet?

Needs a turbo. Needs an actuator for that turbo for fuel efficiency. Otherwise drop the price. Good car but not worth paying $23k this should be a $17k car tops.
