Duh! The stupid cover in the trunk does NOT protect your stuff. It protects your ROOF. Because if you load it with something sticking up above that level accidentially, it might poke / damage your roof as it folds back. And yes, therefore the stupid cover has to be in place properly, or else the car doesn't "know" whether it is save to lower the roof. Is that not easy to see? Especially in America, where you get sued for every fuck-wittery... well done Mercedes, I can totally see how this reviewer would have destroyed the roof by the end of the week ;) I still don't understand how people say the car looks like designed by 3 different people. I can clearly see a line when viewed from the side.

normal sea-level, I've hit 60 in 4.2 seconds. You can also do a psuedo-launch control in this car which is just fun! Love the review btw! (And I love the car! Interior is AMAZING!) And that torque!

Hi. I have a 2013 SL 550 and adore it! But Mercedes says the SL stands for "Super" Light, not Sport Light. Fyi. I love your channel. by the way.

I have had mine for a year. I have NEVER had a car with so many rattles. In addition when traveling between about 43 and 53 MPH there is a thumping sound like air compression. I wouldn't buy another at this price and end up with a car that has rattles that drive me crazy. BTW styling and performance are outstanding. But to pay over $100,000 and have the car with significant rattles and then a thumping sound the dealer's mechanic tells me to "live with" I don't recommend buying one.

I have one of these. Not beautiful but a great GT. It's fast , comfortable, good as a coupe and convertible, easy to work the entertainment and gets 25mpg.

why don't you get rid of the camera man when doing the 0-60 test. have him film from outside when you launch the car and when his camera loses sight you switch over to the go pro camera that you mount on the inside(passenger window maybe?)...

Hmm. It looks to me like Mercedes is calling the same car the SL500 in Europe and the SL550 in the US. Why is that? Does Mercedes beleive, that americans think 550 is more than 500, or whats up? And actually its a 4,5 liter turbocharged V8 anyway, so why not call it the SL450? These numbers are getting very silly and pointless with several german automakers, and this is perhaps the clearest example yet.

You are correct, this car is not attractive. The previous generation was actually much more attractive. The big problem with this car is that it is too complicated and it will break, and when it breaks it will break your bank account.

The new SL bristles with technology like the electrochromic glass in the roof which is cool. There is no doubt the car is quick with the real world 0 - 60 times it can generate. All that said however the thing is hideous looking.

LOL 30MPG but no where near the performance of this car!! So it is very bright!! I will agree yours looks far better though!! But yeah put it in perspective, had your 1998 had this much power it would have got 10MPG
