I personally think that the previous generation was far better looking and sounding, I do like the new ones but much prefer these ones. And the opticruise with the clutch is the best, a clutch comes in handy for maneuvering and reversing into trailers

Brilliant cobber, love your truck road tests. Can't mistake the sound of that V8, one of the best sounds along with the Mack EM9-500. They're a vast improvement over the 143 series I've driven. Always been a manual man, but last 2 trucks I drove (K100 & Freightliner Argosy ) were auto shifts and they were excellent. 👍👍

My favorite engine from Scania is the Euro 5 R560. I would prefer this with manual. It's a V8, what else can I do? I have to buy the V8 with manual transmission. For me that's tradition.

The plastic extention on the air deflector kit it, came with the R2 series well before the Streamline.

If you drive a lot in city traffic with a lot of traffic jams it's nice with an automatic. Otherwise I prefer a manual. The old style opticruise with a optional clutch pedal is a pretty nice compromice. Since I'm Swedish I like Scania V8s but I have to say that the best sounding engine I know is a Caterpillar 3406 straight six.

I would prefer a manual. In every Truck. You have to switch and couple a V8. A tradition for me. He feels better and it's a lot of fun. I used Google Translater and I'm German.

I was been thinking about that scania with side view camera. Instead of placing it at the pillar, they could have placed it on the dashboard or near the sunshade visor. It would be easier to see clearly.

Why would you get the extra a/c pod if the truck already has a/c from factory? Are they not able to cope or is it for when the truck isn't running and it's used at night?

Its used while the trucks engine is off. If you have to sleep on a hot day or even hot night.

The old generation V8 sound from the streamline and R Series is a lot better then the new S and R Series Scania. Comment if you loved the old V8 Sound Scania then the newer models

8.6 mpg from a 16 litre V8 diesel is "not too bad"? Jeez, when are Scania going to start selling trucks in Canada? We've only got the 15 litre Cummins over here for running 63.5 tonne gross and those get barely over 5 mpg.
