Not sure if I missed it but what was the torque spec for the front sprocket? Great video by the way👌🏽

Good rule of thumb when applying loctite, do put a dab of it on the Nut itself cause when you thread it one, it will thread the loctite into the threads.

Awesome video! Very clear and detailed. May i know the chain links number of the chain you used? Looks like did sells it 118L while Triumph oem should be 117L. Just wanna make sure it fits...maybe triumph doesnt count for the removable link while did does...so its the same...thanks!

Hi..great video. About to do mine so thanks for the heads up on the 36mm socket. I need one of those too....who is the rear sprocket made by and where can i buy one like that? Looks good.

Yoo just saw this, it's a JT sprocket front and rear, I got them on chainsandsprockets.co.uk, was cheaper to buy them separately than as a kit. I stuck with stock amount teeth so when I go to sell it, the new owner doesn't think I was just ripping mega dank nooners all day long...because I can't :((

Enjoyed this, thanks. How many miles on the bike? And how many do you think are on the chain and sprockets?
@CagelessDelinquents

Nice one thanks! It had around 20k miles when I did this service, but I don’t know how many miles that chain and sprockets saw, front sprocket for sure 20k, rear was aftermarket that came with the bike when I bought it

Just did the same on my stripple and was told by an experienced DIYer if you use the same washer on the front sprocket it has a tendency to come loose. Have you checked yours a couple weeks /months after the riding it again ?

@@CagelessDelinquents Thankfully shouldn't come to that since the front sprocket can't come off the shaft because of the chain. That depends on whether the tension is right though. It would severely mess with your alignment however which is pretty bad. No problem, let me know what it looked like ;)

Hi mate, great video, mine is making a weird noise when I’m on first gear going slow, it sounds like it doesn’t grab the sprocket and makes a clunk clunk sound, what’s was the reason you changed it? Did you have some strange sound too?
@CagelessDelinquents
@CagelessDelinquents 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! That sounds like a gearbox issue, where maybe it’s not engaging first gear all the way until it starts to take on load from the engine? Oooor your sprockets are so worn down your chain is skipping teeth. We didn’t have any strange sound, these are just wear items and my bike was a bit crusty and I figured the front sprocket was never changed in 18k miles, the rear sprocket we changed because I hated the look of the aftermarket sprocket and went back to OEM

Bummer about the chain breaking tool. Frustrating that those of us who do these jobs infrequently can't get away with cheaper tools for occasional use rather than expensive professional kit we can't justify. Did you consider changing ratios at the same time? When the time comes with mine I'd like to go down one tooth at the back and up one at the front. Too revvy when not on the twisties.

Just get a cheap chain breaking tool, thats enough to push the pin of the linkage through. To rivet the new chain, AFAM Easy RIV works great and is cheap too!

Hey I know it’s been a while but you don’t happen to know that torque spec on the front sprocket do you?
@CagelessDelinquents
@CagelessDelinquents 2 жыл бұрын
Yep, it was 85nm, and you had to bend the washer over it so it couldn’t come undone, hope that helps!

I think torque values reduce when using loctite?

No they don't although I understand why you might think so.

All torque specifications are with a clean dry Nut and Bolt, If you add any lubricant it will over torque your Bolt. That being said I don't know if Loctite has any lubricant values to it.
