Awesome videos mate, I just finished watching the whole series and it will help me a lot, I got a 2013 Street Triple R which will need spark plug replacement, coolant and brake fluid change and this will be very useful. Thank you so much, Greetings from Mexico!

I did a front and rear brake bleed and renew for my Triumph Street Triple 2015 ABS - your video was a great source of information - brakes are better now than when they left the factory - great stuff - thanks for making Triumph ownership easier and more enjoyable

I'm going to be doing this procedure shortly. One question though, when you bleed the ABS system for the front brakes where is the nipple located that you open up? The front calipers, the front master cylinder or is there a bleed nipple somewhere just for the ABS?

Hi, yes you bleed at the nipples on the front and rear calipers.

Hi, is the ABS modulator connected to a particular calliper? Or you could just bleed any one of them?

The modulator is part of the braking system and you would need to bled as shown.

Great vids as always. I just wondered, why can't I just bleed the system adding new fluid on top of old as I go till it runs the new fluid out of the bleed nipples front and back ?? Would that interfere with the abs ??

You could do it that way, it's just best practice not put old fluid through the system.

Hi, I have a Daytona 675 2013 with ABS, can I replace brake fluid if I don´t have the dealertool program? Or it is necessary to have one for stuff like change brake fluid, coolant or oil? I did these operations on my old bikes by myself, but with Daytona I don´t know if I can? Without diagnostics program

Hi according to the Workshop manual I have, yes you will need a diagnostic tool to activate the abs modulator when changing the brake fluid. I think when I researched this before I serviced mine there were people who did it without but I wasn't willing to take any chances. Hope that helps.

I've followed your procedure to the point. The rear brake is perfect, the front brake lever feels mushy and when I depress it I hear 'air noises' coming from the ABS pump (very similar to the noises a small bicycle hand pump makes). Any ideas? Thanks!

Sounds like you have air in the system stating the obvious I know. Has yours got ABS? Have you got a workshop manual and dealertool to activate the abs pump? All I can suggest is you methodically follow the procedure and see how you go.

@@TheSussexBiker Mate thx for getting back to me. I have dealertool and followed the procedure described in the service manual to the point (which is basically the same you demonstrated) about 30 times, no air bubbles are emerging, the pressure on the lever is constant (doesn't build up with successive pulls), however it is a bit soft (for my taste and compared to what I remember from before the bleeding). @@dennisrkb You could try using a cable tie and pulling the brake lever back and leaving it overnight. Strange for sure not sure on the Daytona if you have a bleeder on the master cylinder I presume if you have then you've bled it there as well.

@@TheSussexBiker Tried the cable tie to no avail. Went for a small test ride. First I had no ABS (rear wheel blocking). Eventually the ABS kicked in and the bike was operating 'normally'. Still, mushy lever and the 'air noise' audible in the video remained. Don't trust these brakes.. decided to run direct brake lines for now and let a pro fix the ABS.. fingers crossed! Thx for your time!

Hi from memory I bought a one litre container and that was more that enough. Any brake fluid that meets the specs will be fine

Yes you need an assistant, they hold pressure on the brake pedal / brake lever then activate abs modulator, then open bleed nipple and allow lever or pedal to go back to handlebar or pedal all the way down.

Francisco Munoz, The bleeder valves are the nipples they are on the calipers and if you have an 'R' there is also one on the master cylinder HTH.

kidda74 Yes I do ride it but I also spend a lot of time cleaning it. I've been known to spend at least six hours. Need more time riding and less cleaning.

i use a vacuum system to bleed brakes, have i to do this procedure anyway?

Hi vacuum bleeding a non abs bike would be ok,but if your bike has abs you need to activate the modulator. HTH

Ok awesome video but you really screwed up on the abs part ? I dont understand how you can be so thorough and then destroy that part can you elaborate in context? You say lever so I'm assuming the front brake lever other wise you would have said pedal but also the the nut are you removing the brake caliper bleeder nut or are you suggesting the master cylinder bleeder?

Yes front brake lever and rear pedal. Front you bleed calipers first and then bleeder on master cylinder (R only) and rear bleed at calipers and then you bleed abs system and then conventional bleed again as per factory manual. HTH thanks for watching

OK here it is - word for word from the workshop manual; 1-Complete bleed procedure as for models with non abs brakes 2- connect diagnostic tool 3- follow on screen menu to ABS brakes select BLEED SYSTEM . NOTE on pressing start button the diagnostic software will send a command to the ABS ECM to open the 2nd circuit solenoid / The front brake lever travel will increase as the ABS modulator solenoids are opened and will then decrease as the solenoids are closed / pressure must be applied to the front brake lever before operating the bleed sequence on the diagnostic tool. An assistant will be required to open the bleed nipple while pressure is applied to the brake lever. 4 - Apply pressure to the front brake lever,press the start button to activate the bleed sequence on the diagnostic tool and with assistance release one of the bleed nipples. 5- get an assistant to slowly pull the brake lever to the handlebar. 6 - With the lever held fully against the handlebar close the bleed nipple,once the bleed nipple is closed release the brake lever. 7- Repeat steps 5 and 6 until no more air appears in the bleed tube maintaining the brake fluid level between the upper and lower reservoir levels whilst bleeding is being carried out. 8- The bleed sequence will run for 90 seconds. Press the stop button to end the sequence at any time. Once the bleed sequence has completed the diagnostic tool will display a message 'ABS system bleed complete'. 9- Repeat the procedure as necessary until all air is expelled from the system. 10 - when all air is expelled from the system apply pressure to brake lever and close the bleed nipple . Tighten the nipple to 6nm. 11- Repeat the brake bleed procedure as for models without ABS brakes.

Hi thanks for the comment - this procedure shown is exactly how the Triumph service manual tells you how to do it - I have just checked the manual again.Triumph must have their reasons, I'm wondering if it's just belt and braces incase you introduce any air in the system after bleeding the modulator.
