Mike is maybe the greatest living electric guitarist. His taste, timing, harmonic mastery, dynamic control, melodic phrasing , individuality and tonal mastery are incredible. So inspiring. His music is awesome.

That's like ... better than being the Richard Chamberlain of the ukulele right?

Through all that jazzy mastery I can hear a lot of Jeff Beck and some hints of Hendrix.

Javi G He is very close to Scott Henderson as well. Even down to hand position and pedals and tone tweaking to some extent. He too has both a Beck and to a lesser degree a Hendrix vibe. I prefer Landau though at the end of the day.

Yeah, sounds to me like they "drink from some of the same sources" as we say in Spain

whynottalklikeapirat I love Henderson's playing, and I'm sure there are areas where he may outpace Landau. But, I know for a fact that Henderson is a BIG Landau fan, and I dare say that the more aggro elements have influenced Henderson a lot in the last ten or fifteen years. I prefer Landau, though again, it's a matter of taste; they're both awesome. But Landau exceeds on aesthetic elements; tone is HUGE to me, and imo, nobody beats Landau for tones or chord voicings. Nobody.

I wish he would let those damn knobs alone for more than 10 seconds. It has become like a bad habit. The whammy 3 knobs and the volume pedal. Don’t tell me that only if you constantly change everything you can play a damn song. I like Mike but that makes him miss many many notes.
