I own a 2015 V star 1300 and I love it. It has a long classic old-school look that never gets old and the huge headlight just adds to its mystique.

The V Star 1300 is the best Bike that I ever owned. Within one year I went trough (3) different Motorcycles, but the Yamaha 1300 is the Bike that I will keep. It has the best Engine dynamic, you can rev it up like a sports Bike, I have tested the $ 24500 Victory but I still feel my V Star fits me much better than the larger Victory. Every one has its own preference, for me Yamaha is the company with the products that i think they are Superior. I am from Germany, I believe that Yamaha makes a better and more refined Product then BMW, Yamaha may not have as many gadgets and electronic components, but what they provide and deliver works extremely well. I hope they go back to the Candy Red Color from 2009 and the Chrome Exhaust System, I will never order one with the dark and dull black Exhaust system. Motorcycle guys love chrome, dull black just does not work, hopefully Yamaha keeps the wishes of its customer in mind. Before I change to a dull black exhaust Pipe, I may consider changing the brand. Thanks, Hubert

My 05 Honda CBR600 F4i has six gears ;-) Japanese. I agree with you about the Harley, my 01 Night Train was the same way. When HD came out with the 6 speeds I remember thinking how perfect another gear on top would be to lower those rpms and vibs. The CBR purrs 60 mph in 6th @5000 rpm. 70 mph @5400 rpm.

dumb question, maybe, but say years down the road can the GPS be removed and aftermarket radio be installed in its place, is there room behind? I'm just wondering because years down the road when the GPS becomes obsolete or broke

Interesting thoughts. But does it really matter if there are 5 or 6 gears. If the 5th gear is a true overdrive it really doesn't matter if they slice it up with 5 or 6 steps. Some bikes just added an extra gear but they don't have the high end torque to pull it off in 5 steps. The Wing could of easilyof taken on bigger steps. Their mileage is terrible. The Venture handles the 5th gear overdrive well. Good mileage with lots of pull.

I find it ridiculous that many of the cruising and touring bikes only have 5 speed transmissions. A Goldwing should surely have an overdrive gear for the interstate. It has gobs of torque and so do many of these later V-twin cruisers. The V65,V45 type bikes way back in the 80's had a 6 speed transmission and the 6th gear was a real Overdrive gear. The sport bikes have had 6 speed transmissions all along but, they were a close ratio 6 speed geared for performance. It's simply a matter of cost.

Don't suppose it has a dash mounted key? Really, even trucks now have 8 speeds. No excuse for a 5 speed. I have done some test rides on the 1300 and like it better than the roadie or 950.

Yes, it is a pretty good video, but why did Yamaha rebrand to Star, and why are they giving engine displacement in cubic inches? Is this an attempt to appeal to HD customers? We bikers have been using the metric displacement scale since the '60s, at least, we're used to it.
