I’ve never even changed a tire.. but a series of events later and I feel like I need a telling everyone I know that I just did this in less than 20min 💪🏻 👩🏻‍🔧 here’s the story, but for those who don’t want it, this WORKED and was so damn easy! And also there are two rubber covers on each side for the lights; you’re opening/removing the circular rubber seal from the ones closest to the rear of the car) I can’t see at night in CA, VW dealership doesn’t sell brighter lights, was told I could buy some and they’d put them in, auto parts place said they could put them depending upon the process, googled the process, found this…. I almost high-fived myself twice (after hearing one light click into place, then after turning my car on and their glorious beams shining - 1st engine start, around 10-15min after install) and I tell you no lies.

Thanks for this! One suggestion for lighting: there's a hole in the frame directly above the cover. You can look or shine light through there for better visibility. :)

Great video thanks, turned out to be a lot easier than I had anticipated, I had been told all sorts of horror stories, such as you'll have to drop the bumper, you'll have to take the grill out... I suspect the drivers side won't be quite as easy on the UK model as the space is restricted by the washer bottle :(

For the bulb to come off - do you twist towards the wheel well, or towards engine block? You either twist to a full left or full right to remove? My first attempt did not work. When I went to a garage, they wanted to remove the whole light assembly and charge me $350! I would like to attempt again, but the direction I twisted (towards the wheel well -left) was not working. Any suggestions? Does wearing rubber gloves help (for grip?). I was trying free hand. I managed to do the passenger side already. Your video was helpful for that.

Does it turn on immediately after you change the bulb? Or do you have to give it a few minutes for the lightbulb to turn on?

It turns on immediately once the cable is connected to it, just a matter of securing the bulb back in correct position.

I had 2012 passat with 35 watt hid. Now the light is very dim. Does it happening due to 8 year old hid bulb or balkast or anything else. Please help me in this. If u suggest me to change the bulb then suggest me bulb wattage and brand

I just tried this but what I found really difficult was a) lining up the bulb in the housing and knowing it's in the right place to twist, b) twisting the bulb back in - it's quite stiff and difficult to do without strong hands/fingers. Also removing the headlight harness plug (as suggested in another video) was difficult. The plastic tab is stiff to press with thumb, and then really hard to grip and wiggle off the plug with only fingers!

Oh and I gave up with doing this and managed to put the original bulb back in. Maybe another day.

Afnan Hasan very much so. The most You’ll be doing is keeping your tires up. It’s a little weird how they work but once you figure it out it’s a breeze. Other than that I have no complaints with this vehicle!

My lights will turn on, though dimmer than normal, but slowly grow more and more dim and then finally shut off. If I turn the lights bob off and on again, it’ll all happen again. Is this what happened to you or does my issue sound like something else?

Question - why not plug the cable in first, then install?

The short length of the cable, combined with the awkward angle of the bulb going back into the small opening is why I did it the way I did.

@@rodoza66 ended having to take the grill and that side of the bumper off , unscrew the light housing , all for a friggin bulb 😂 , messed up part was I could do the opposite side Easy no problem , I don’t know if my hands were just too big or being left handed might have something to with it , probably did more work than I needed , but it still going

You have to change both because the other one will burn or the new one, you won't have the same worlds at startup🤝

You say the same bulb is for the low and high beams, does that mean you would need 4 bulbs to complete or just 2?

Chris Miller, would you know why if I changed my HID it still shows more yellowish when I put the brights on? I had to change my bulb because it kept shutting on and off every minute or so for a couple seconds then eventually turning completely yellow. But now it doesn’t match the other light when I compare during night time in my garage. Ballast maybe? Any help would be appreciated!

I thought that dash warning light was for the cornering light bulbs only, i have it on. but i don't see any bulbs out when my headlights are on at night and just replaced the cornering bulb's too..its driving me crazy lol

flexluis 311 It s bulb out warning. So somewhere on your vehicle there’s a bulb out... it doesn’t have to be a cornering light.

I had the same problem but the socket that the light clicks into was actually damaged so the female part of the headlight connector was damaged and now I need to get it replaced I bought the part now to figure out how to replace it because everyone wants to charge me 200 to $300 to do it. Did you get it fixed yourself?

I did not. Replaced the ballast after, still does not work. The CC has a fuse for each side so just because one side is working doesn’t mean a fuse might not be blown, check those. Sounds like what you have might be my problem as well cas everything else checks out fine.

@@Peternotsogreat I tried to check the fuses but there's no directions on the fuse box on what fuse goes to where and when I Google my car's fuse box the diagrams don't match what i have in my car. I took it to Volkswagen and they told me that I needed to stock it they're going to charge me $200 so I just bought the piece myself and it was about 30 bucks just got to figure out how to replace it.

Just to be safe, take a flashlight and check all of them, you can see if a fuse is busted without taking it out. On the 2013 CC it’s on the side of your dash closest to the door, by the steering wheel. Pop that cover off and take a look.
