Thank you for this video, took a bit to align the holes again but I rotated the crank a little more and it aligned. Wanted to make sure I could screw the E12s in by hand to avoid cross threading 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

I'm stuck, the screws wont align correctly? What should I do? I got the new belt installed. Thx
@jcx2bby Жыл бұрын
You will get it. Keep moving the pulley around, or use a small punch to align the holes. You got this!
@ValuableShort Жыл бұрын
@@jcx2bby Should i loosen it back up again, align it with a punch and then tighten it?
@jcx2bby Жыл бұрын
@@ValuableShort you can try that. I would probably use a small screwdriver or punch to align it before doing that though. And start a bolt in another hole.
@ValuableShort Жыл бұрын
@@jcx2bby just tried that but when it snaps back into place it slides just a hair off. Would it help to remove the new belt and then align it and then reinstall the belt you think? Thanks for your help!

What size ratchet are you using? 1/2 in or 3/8? I have limited tools. Can you please recommend what length extensions to use?
@jcx2bby Жыл бұрын
It is a 1/2 inch ratchet from harbor freight. Get a set of extensions if you can. 1, 3 and 6 inch at least. But if you only get one, the 3 inch is the best all around size imho. You could even get 2x 3inch extensions and stack them up if you wanted.
@bmw_5_bmw_5_442 жыл бұрын
alright, that easy. Same for the S63b44? on ista how i read it was much more difficult then I thought, so the pulley gets back and stretches the belt? I am going to change on my s63 engine now how I saw you change that out so easy. Thanks mate 😁
@jcx2bby2 жыл бұрын
I would assume the procedure on the s63 is the same, but I don't know for sure. It should be very obvious when you get in there and have a look if that front pulley on the crank looks the same or not. Report back and let us know, and thanks for commenting
@user-do6ur6su3y2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely the same procedure for S63 engine since the pulley and belt are identical

Would it be easier to get access to it from the bottom or is removing the fan the best approach?
@jcx2bby3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say it would be easier at all. It might be possible, but that fan shroud is still going to get in your way. Plus there is a metal bar of some kind that runs along the front of the engine (can't remember if it is a swaybar or what) that will thwart your every move. Possible, maybe. Easier, probably not.

Man, you see those shade tree mechanic guys trying to jerry rig this installation with a damn broom stick? It's so irresponsible of them to be doing shit like that. I will be tackling this tomorrow but I will have none of the top stuff or water pump removed so we will see how the hell I am going to film this. Will post on the bmwchannel soon. Wish me luck. I haven't seen any videos on how to do this correctly like this one so kudos.

Yeah I think i saw the video you're referencing....SMH. Sad. I think that if you remove the electric fan and accessory drove belt, you should have 'some' access to get to it. I do wish you luck and will be waiting for your vid.
