I started 25th and passed 24 cars but only finished 16th. After a frustrating weekend my car felt the best it had been all weekend! Lots of wrecks with one major wreck right in front of me. Worst wreck happens at 1:45

This was fun to watch! It brings back a lot of memories. I used to run these things in mid 1990's. Thanks for sharing!

This is a great video. It shows EXACTLY what it is like in the seat of the car. Reaction time is instant, or costly.... if you want to race, contact is part of the sport. If you are not properly funded, it is a tough sport to participate in. Good luck in the future.

I really want to start racing Legends at Irwindale Speedway. I have no idea how to really get started, though. My only racing experience is one season of go karting in which I had 5 podium finishes in ten starts. Humpy Wheeler always expresses the fact that it's better to rent a race car rather than buy one.I'm sure I'd have to work out some sponsorship, which I also don't know how to do because I've never done it before. I also need a job that would allow me to be at the track enough to practice, qualify, and race. I'm sure local racers have casual jobs that they go to during the week.

This was really fun to watch, good job Dissecting it, your car had a lot of rotation thru the center (better than those in front of you) however the sacrifice was wheel spin of crucial exits, this track was larger than another I watched & gearing seemed spot on, I try cross threading when it comes to wheel spin as to not lose corner rotation, my suggestion (which means nothing BTW) would be to soften the left rear a skotch, keep the corner rotation & lessen the wheel spin on exit, or stiffen the right front but likely lose a little cut, a stiffer setup would probably allow for 2nd groove passing, tho I wouldn’t tempt it with that access road break away exiting turn 2 Nice move up tho, I thought you had better than 16th, shucks, it was chaos tho

That was me in the 19 that drove over his left front. By trust me I'm not a squirrel by any means. Not much you can do with 7 cars spinning in front of you with your brakes locked up

Watching this reminded me of why we got out of Legends. Too may squirrels racing in the series who tear crap up. Still lots of fun, but at 12:50 you'll see a example of what I mean.

Yes, that was Dan Winter and he was ok. The car was pretty much destroyed though.

Have there ever been fatalities in legends car races?
@Bigmilmotorsports8 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately Yes, not very often but just last year a driver was killed in a race. Probably over the last 2 years I wouldn't think more than 5-6 drivers have been killed racing in these cars. They are pretty safe already and keep getting safer.

1:50, how'd he wreck? What caused it?
@Bigmilmotorsports9 жыл бұрын
FansOfDale There was a guy ahead of us spinning and the car below the guy that flipped slowed and moved up the track to avoid and the flipped car came up on the lower car too fast and they touched wheels. The touching of the wheels is what caused him to be launched in the air. Ultimately it was people checking up (at different rates) for the spinning car ahead that caused the issue. At least that's my take on it.
@FansOfDale9 жыл бұрын
This has be worried now haha. I was gonna try to start racing these. Don't really know how much they usually are. Found one for $7,500
@Bigmilmotorsports9 жыл бұрын
FansOfDale This kind of flip doesn't happen often, I've been racing these for 6 years (~135 races) and I've only seen it twice, and neither driver was seriously injured (the car bad though). $7,500 is a reasonable price for a decent ready to race car. You can get em as cheap as $5k (that need a lot of work) or as high as $15k (with all the bells and whistles).

The pit entrance to the track is a horrible design. That can get someone killed.

Michael Jansen yeah for an expensively built track they certainly didn’t think that through.

How much do these cars cost?

Anywhere between $7,000 and $15,000 depending on if you buy new/used or from another race team.

BigmilMotorsports hey got any tips for a person enterimg legend cars any tips on shifting or lines cause i could use the help my dad is putting me in legends next year and i need to be getting ready by getting the necessary gear such as the full driving suit the flame retardant face thing and the shoes ect. So any tips would be helpful
@Bigmilmotorsports9 жыл бұрын
Sorry it took me so long to respond. Lines all really have to depend on which track your running. Unless your running a road course you won't need to shift much. Usually I upshift on each start/restart one gear change. Where are you going to be racing at? I would recommend getting a driver safety package, where you can get everything you need in one kit (good for starters). Try something like this website pitstopusa.com/c-131727-safety-equipment-driver-safety-packages.html Feel free any kinda questions as you get closer!

I would love too! I live in Aarhus, Denmark. Every year they have a classic car race, with all different cars, even from the beginning of racing. I tried to sit in one of these. The engine is so cool and i'm looking forward to the day, were i am gonna drive one my self. :D #RideOrDie
