They do actually have the female threaded location in the frame in the 2017's, you just need to cut the hole in the bumper at the right location and then use a frame plug from your auto parts store to cover the hole when not in use. I did it on my 2017 escape!

Asking differently. My car DOES have little door that the bolt goes in, should that bolt be in my Escape someplace? If so, where would i find it in the car, Or do I need to purchase the bolt separately. ( adding, I do not have the tow package)

You've got to purchase it

The towing packing has nothing to do with it it be located at the front of the vehicle & have a cover over where it goes

@@11000charles okay I will do that. I had a 2011 Ford Explorer with the tow package and it came with the bolt and door. So, would I have gotten the bolt w/o the tow package?? Explorer is now gone and I have 2015 Ford Escape w/o tow package but I have the door. So not sure if the bolt should be in my car, so having the Expl with a bolt confused me. I will buy one then. thanks for your help. I wonder if Ford Dealers have them in stock or if I have to special order.

@@elizabethholis237 I would try & see if that bolt works before buying one the threads will probably be reverse so if you can't get it to screw going right you might want to trying Screwing it I left. Like I said though this is a RECOVERY HOOK & RECOVERY HOOK LOCATION. IT'S not useed to tow anything just a safe means to pull yuo out if you get stuck in the mud

@@11000charles Oh I understand it's not for towing. I used it in my Expl. for my tie down bow line for my kayaks. Hubby has a 2010 Ford Transit Connect and the car came with the bolt and its left hand thread. But my Explor. were right hand. If it does not automatically come with the car, I will go to the dealership to buy one.

Kansa City Shuffle 2017 Ford Escape and up actually has recovery hook in front under the bumper but for some stupid reason Ford decided to not make a hole in a bumper and we don’t have it. And it’s not under left fog light cover. Check euro Kuga they have it in front and also at the back.

Does the bolt come with the car if you do NOT have a tow package?

The bolt is separate & it's not a tow package it's a recovery hook location.
