Great Video to creator.. here are some helpful tips.. sockets needed for rear brake system (just to replace pads & rotors) are 13mm for guide bolts, 18mm for brake bracket (mounted to hub), **how to remove the seized rotor that is stuck like in the video.. DO NOT USE HAMMER & Make sure you do not have parking brake on (ask me how I know that!).. easier method.. use the 13mm guide bolts (yes these are the correct size & thread) and put them in the threaded holes on the rotor and screw them in simultaneously (little by little on each side)... Torque Specs-- 38ft/lbs for 13mm guide bolts, 148ft/lbs for bracket 18mm bolts... wheel lug nuts depends on your wheels.. I think stock is 22mm... I have aftermarket and they are 19mm.. I normally set them to 140-145ft/lbs. I know video is old by KZbin standards, but it is a great video.. and hope my comment helps others out.

Bravo! First time I watched one of these where someone put neverseeze on the hub/pilot that receives the wheel. Makes it ease to remove the wheel the next tire rotation or if you have a flat on the road! Great video.

I think the screw holes your referring to are jack outs. You can put bolts in them and a couple turns at a time alternating back and forth use them to extract the rotor from the hub when removing it as opposed to the mini sledge operation you demonstrated!

The two treaded holes in the rotors are for Jack bolts. If you have the proper size laying around it makes taking the stuck rotors off a breeze.

When I retract the piston, I use the old pad against the piston instead of direct clamp engagement. It allows for more even pressure (no strain on seals) and prevents scarring of piston.

I'm not a pro but I thought I push down on the bracket bolts? I know on the front driver side you push down and on the front passenger side you pull up lossen the bolts, is it the same for the rear? Like I said I'm not a mechanic but want to do my rear brakes/rotors on my 2017 chevy silverado.

It just a regularly bolt, if your looking at the rotor and wheel studs then your ratchet would go clockwise to loosen the bolt

The threaded holes in rotor are actually for getting rotor off. You put threaded bolts in to them and turn them, they will bring rotor off.

@robguysgarage5422 Жыл бұрын
the lug nuts do use a 22mm socket, and there is no mention of a 3/8 in the video, maybe you are referring to the 38 foot pounds of torque on the calper bolts, Chevy hasn't used a 3/8 headed bolt in at least 20 years, hope this helps
