Just a couple notes for some models, in particular the 2014 Ram 5500. This one doesn't have the "confirm" screen. It only uses the re-set and then changes percentages. Also, on at least the Fuel Filter percentage screen, apparently they didn't have enough screen space for it to read "100 %", so after you do the re-set, it will read "10 %", then after you drive it a short distance, it will read "99 %" and then it will do it's normal count down the more you drive. Great video Motor City Mechanic. We'll keep watching them!

Hi Dave, I have a 2012 Ram 2500 6.7. After an oil change and doing a reset, the oil service light comes on again at 3500 miles. After a reset it then comes on at 6000 miles when I then do a service. Can you explain why the light comes on at the 3500 mile mark? Thanks for all your instructional videos.

so the 2015 Ram uses milage not fuel pressure to determine when to change the filters? Also should i replace both filters each time, or just the one in the engine bay? thanks for your videos they are a huge help to me.
@MotorCityMechanic5 жыл бұрын
I have never seen it written anywhere but its roughly around the 15,000 mile interval. It could calculate it based on idle times as well but it still seems to fall close to that 15,000 mile mark. When the time comes you need to replace both, they are due at the same time. Thanks for asking and make sure to subscribe.

@MotorCityMechanic5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Juan. I dont see there being a big difference.....Rotella is a great oil that I havent seen issues with. You could go either way in my opinion and not have any problems.

but how do ya reset preform services message 2015 3500 6.7
@MotorCityMechanic8 жыл бұрын
+alan speck I mention how near the end of the following video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqmZYnSkes2mqcU .With the key on......press the brake pedal 2 times and then the gas pedal 2 times.....then key off. Do all these steps in less then 10 seconds. Sometimes you may need to try it multiple times until it resets. Thanks for the question and make sure to subscribe

How can reset the Perform Service message on 2007 dodge 6.7 diesel?
@MotorCityMechanic8 жыл бұрын
Morning Todd.......turn the key on, press and release the brake pedal two times and then the throttle two times....then turn the hey off. You may need to do this a few times until it reset finally.
@haleiwahi278 жыл бұрын
yeah, I tried that in random sequences but so far, nothing has worked. I tried as you said above, then tried holding down the throttle as I turned off the key, then reversed the order then tried 3 times each all within a 5 second time period then in a 10 second time period. So far the message still comes on. I thought you might know of another pattern I hadn't tried.

Hey David, just wondering if it’s ok to use 5w-30 synthetic instead of 15W-40. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of 15W-40 synthetic out there. I have a 2012 2500 diesel. Thanks.
@MotorCityMechanic6 жыл бұрын
Its highly recommended to stay with the 15w-40 and never use the 5w-30. In case where the temp is below 0'f.....5w-40 synthetic can be used. But most likely your not in that part of the world. The normal 15w-40 is perfect and no expensive oil is needed. We no issues related to oil so changing to a different weight or an expensive oil is not justified and for the most part....a waste of money. Thanks for the question and make sure to subscribe

Hey Dave, love your videos. I'm a long time Cummins owner and just upgraded to a 2017 Ram 3500. I've been using mostly Amsoil 15W40 but recently switched to Valvoline Synthetic Blue 5W40. It's endorsed by Cummins and I understand that is what these trucks come new from the factory with. Is this correct?

how to get message off of a 2012 dodge ram turbo cummins? Saying my exhaust is 90% full
@MotorCityMechanic8 жыл бұрын
That message will require one of a few things possibly. First I need to know if the check engine light is on. There could be an issue causing this to happen. If no check engine light then I recommend driving it at freeway speeds for a long distance until it starts to count down and then the message eventually goes away.

What are you wanting to reset? The "Perform Maintenance" message?
@markgilley41766 жыл бұрын
Yes sir
@MotorCityMechanic6 жыл бұрын
Here are the steps: PERFORM SERVICE INDICATOR - RESET The “Perform Service” message will display on the EVIC each time you turn the ignition switch to the ON/RUN position to indicate a emission maintenance is required. To reset the “Perform Service” indicator system (after performing the scheduled maintenance) refer to the following procedure: 1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (Do not start engine). 2. Press and release the brake pedal two times. 3. Fully depress the accelerator pedal slowly two times within 10 seconds. 4. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF/LOCK position.

I recommend getting the codes checked. You can visit your local auto parts store and they will be welling to do that for you....as long as you dont live in California. Once you get the codes....let me know what they are and I will try to help further.
