Why not as a first bike? Do you mean it's too big for a beginner, or it's not practical for everyday use or what? What would you suggest as a first bike?
@sergeyakinin9978 жыл бұрын
+Mars Marsian I would hate to drop and scratch that baby as my first bike... It is my only bike at the moment though - I stopped riding the sportbike after getting this. It's not heavy or unmanageable in any way. An FZ07 or a new Bonneville would be a good first bike... most will tell you a Ninja 250 or CB500 - but I find those to be very appliance (lawn mower) like... they'll get old quick. If you're a reasonable driver and will give a motorcycle the respect it deserves, you'll be OK with something more powerful than a 250.
@marsmarsian49328 жыл бұрын
Ok, that I understand. I started with an used Honda Hornet 600 4 years ago, I dropped her twice and thought it was a good idea to have an inexpensive bike. Now I just bought a XSR700 since I still love handy bikes. The R Nine T is sexy as hell, but I would feel bad to park her out on the street every night.
@marsmarsian49328 жыл бұрын
I was just startled because I thought he meant this is a bike you buy, when you already own another bike.
@1990-t1j8 жыл бұрын
+Mars Marsian I had a R1100GS for 14 years which ended up as a second bike. I miss it. I'd love one of these R Nines, preferably the new Sport, but they are so expensive. The fact it doesn't have excessive electrics is good, though. Less to go wrong ... and BMWs do, whatever the PR machine tells you.

If they understood how to make a good looking bike I would buy. I'm addicted to it but only baak can make the r nine t look good. Stock, uniform colours. Why is the frame under the seat standing out like a sort thumb? What is with the intake on the right side of the bike it's colour doesn't blend property to the bike. If they are going to call it a retro bike at least do it justice. Having said that I like everything else about the bike but fuck man it's ugly. I find the simple Triumph Street twin or t120 looks much better although with less power. The Germans should get a better designer. Honestly even the new 2019 colour options are a joke its like someone said styling was bad so they made new colour options but they still don't get it

Wat the heck is "brake horsepower"? I know wat hp is but these bits keep mentioning brake horsepower and newton meters of torque. Someone please explain.
@JonQuirkUK9 жыл бұрын
Atlacatl Thanks for watching, Atlacatl. Brake horsepower is the most widely used measurement of engine power in the UK, so for consistency, we present everything in brake horsepower (BHP). BHP is the power delivered to and measured at the engine's crankshaft, minus frictional losses in the transmission and other auxiliaries, whereas the HP figure doesn't account for those losses.

Naked bikes are great until you reach about 50 mph. Then the wind noise inside the helmet prevents one from talking to one's self. If you hit a rain storm at 70 mph it will drive drops straight through your helmet, and it'll rip the skin off of your face. If rain fell at 70 mph we'd have to use cast iron umbrellas, maybe kevlar would stop it, but I wouldn't want to take a chance. If you hit a dense fog at 120 mph it'll shred your leathers. Snowflakes are even worse than rain, they are frozen into countless spikes that are hard as diamonds. If there is any chance of encountering moisture of any sort, I stay inside and monitor the weather channel. Nothing beats a crop killing drought, dust devils are a rider's best friend.
@marsmarsian49328 жыл бұрын
+505197 I strongly disagree. On my old naked honda, 87 mph was a great travel speed. Over 160mph my neck started to hurt though ;) but where outside of germany you can actually ride so fast? In a storm you have to slow down of course, but I suggest you do that on any bike. Maybe you should consider bying a new helmet ;)
@jungle55078 жыл бұрын
505197 nope. I can vouch for the fact that rain will not enter a Shoei GT Air at over 100mph on an R9T. Nor will wind noise stop you talking to yourself. I'll put a vid up to show you noise over 50mph next week.

BMW ruined such a iconic design if Triumph T100 and T120 and its family and other models can keep the retro style alive so as Kawasaki W800 for example......, why not BMW doesnt look historic iconic retro this is look just any other Bike i am afraid
@xxdummyfreshful6 жыл бұрын
The Right KiNG of Wrong! I agree one hundred percent, if BMW made a bike that looks like one of their early 1960 models they would sell gem faster then they could make them, I see nothing retro on this bike except maybe the boxer style engine, but that is not enough!
@MrSpeedemon77774 жыл бұрын
Whoever is doing the fuel range calculations in these videos should be fired immediately. They're almost always wrong. 18 liter tank is equal to 4 imperial gallons or 4.75 US liquid gallons: 40.5 MPG × 4 imp. gallons = 162 miles 40.5 MPG × 4.75 US gallons = 192 mile NOT 310 miles. More like 310 kms. 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈
