The second row does adjust fore and aft, they also recline as does the 3rd row. The honda van gets 5star + rating only on the models with fwd collision warning, which starts at 35.5k. (Ex-L) City mileage isn't great but highway mileage is around 26mpg even cruising at 70. I average 17-18 with heavy city/hill driving, and those 283hp are very handy and worth it.

The small overlap crash tests happen in only 10% of crashes world wide. It's a small consideration but still a valid point. I'm a car guy and I hated getting a van. But now that I have one I love the versatility of it.

There is an error with this review when you talk about the second row stow-n-go seats. My family owns a grand caravan 2014 which is the same exact car as this, and the second row seats have a wide range of motion forwards and backwards. he claimed that the seats do not go forwards and backwards that is false.

I'd rather go with a van, such as this Chrysler, than purchasing an SUV. I do prefer the high seating that a van provides, similar to an SUV. The only unfortunate thing about vans is that they lack all wheel or 4 wheel drive (except for the Toyota Sienna's top version which is pricey!). I really don't care what anyone may think as I drive a van, and I don't have a large family. Only my lady and myself, but I dig having huge cargo room capacity which is something you CAN'T get in a sedan. I wish VW would bring back the Bus from back in da day. A retro design, which could be as simple as the original bus was, but with safety factors built in and maybe an aircooled engine to boot! Of course I'm dreaming...lol- Peace!

They're nice to travel in, even alone. Put down the back seat and you can sleep laying flat. They also get much better mileage than SUV's.

I've had 2 Siennas as company vehicles. I love my Town and Country. Plan to drive it until the wheels fall off, because it isn't great for resale, but it's an enjoyable drive, has great equipment, and is averaging about 24.5 mpg overall at 50k miles. If you're looking to save some money on a used van, look for an S or Touring L. There are plenty of low mileage units available.

2nd row seats do slide forward and back. There's a bar under the front of the seat. Just lift it up, and find your desired position. Some newer models actually spin to face the rear seat (like in the '80s model TOYOTA VAN LE equipped with captain's seats), and have a table you can place between the 2nd & 3rd row. For better fuel economy, why not throw in a nine-speed automatic transmission on this vehicle and Grand Caravan when they get redesigned? The Chrysler 200 and Jeep Cherokee both with V6 have nine-speed automatic transmissions and work the best. To the transmission that is. Chrysler will continue to produce the Town and Country minivan, but Dodge will be losing it's minivan to keep Dodge more in line with their "performance based" lineup. Dodge will, however, be getting a crossover based on the new Town and Country

@@cevans2021 yep, the Grand Caravan hung in there up until 2020 when it’s been discontinued since. Pacifica, the T&C’s replacement since 2017 has been carrying the torch and is far more modern than these vans. I wouldn’t mind getting a T&C used if the deal was right on one, but you’d bet I’d get an extended warranty for sure. There was a short-lived Voyager that was based on the Pacifica and it’s lower level trims but that didn’t last long

The one thing reviewers almost always fail to mention is the price of these. Yeah, it's not as refined as the Odyssey, but it costs a LOT less in the real world since nobody pays list price for a Chrysler. It's a great value, all things considered. Safety is not as good, that's a valid complaint. But keep in mind that to stay in the same price range you would be comparing this to a 2-3 year old Odyssey, which also failed the new partial offset crash test prior to an update in 2014. And while the rear seats in the Odyssey are spacious and comfortable, the front seats are miserably cramped, with a particularly intrusive dead pedal. If you're above 6' tall make sure you spend a good amount of time in it before buying.

plmn93 I purchased a less than one year old Chrysler Touring with 34000 miles on it for only $19,400! It had been a lease or rental car. Since it still had factory warranty on it, I took it to the Chrysler dealer and had them go all through it. They said the vehicle was perfect. This is impressive because the original sticker price on the van was $34K + ! Check with Avis, Budget, Hertz, etc. car sales sites for these bargains!

Nice job on the video. The only part I'd quibble with is, does anyone really care about IIHS small-offset crash test? He's more real and honest than most of the complainers probably are.

Why consider it? Worse gas mileage than Honda or Toyota. MUCH worse resale value. ANY of the rear seats are terrible for anyone older than say, 11. The Sto-N-Go seats require the seat bottoms to be thin, thus little support. You don't feel like you are "in" a seat; more like sitting on a stool. Unless they have improved the brakes, be prepared for a new set of rotors every 15 - 20K miles.

We have had the necessity to rent an accessible minivan several times this year and each time it was a Dodge minivan. What he does not talk about is the constant shudder from the engine while in Park. We have been in the market for a wheelchair accessible van for the past year. The Dodge/Chrysler family was never in the running as my wife and I have both owned Dodge products in the past. We have driven a 2011, 2013, and 2014 Dodge minivan and they all suffered from the same shudder in the engine, we have had both the 5 and 6 speed transmissions, both were slow and awkward. I will not comment about road noise as that is not a fair comparison because the floors are lowered about 14 inches. We had the pleasure of driving a 2010 Honda Odyssey before we were forced to rent Dodge and it was a very pleasurable experience. We also test drove a 2011 Odyssey with 3 times the mileage of the Dodge vans and it was still by far a better product. Most recently, we rented a Toyota and liked it so much that I have one on order. If you are in the market for a minivan, please drive the Dodge/Chrysler 1st before driving the competition as that will give you a baseline as to what a minivan is and then drive the Toyota and Honda to see what a minivan should be.
@bazouli5010 жыл бұрын
I should also say that in 2009 We rented the Volkswagen routon for a week. I never thought it was possible for a company to license a product (Chrysler minivan), spend something like $10,000,000 and make a bad product worse. Volkswagen learned that they do not have a competitive product and are no longer attempting to be in that business, that is the best decision they have made in a long time.
@bazouli509 жыл бұрын
***** my mistake that it was not a 5 speed. 6 speed was not standard, 2009 had a four-speed automatic, 2010 a 6 speed was optional, depending on what trim level. All of the vans that we had the displeasure of driving were SXTs which had 4 speeds. That still does not account for the tthen shuddering in Park. There is also something to be said for a very unimpressive interior. In the stereo head. There was a Bluetooth button, unfortunately it does not come with that option. So they just make you wish you had bought something different. Could you imagine buying a pickup truck with a switch for four-wheel-drive and then when you press it, you get a message stating that this vehicle is not equipped with that? The plastics are cheap, even the gearshift feels like it's ready to fall apart.
@bazouli509 жыл бұрын
***** please backup what you say about Toyota being a huge issue waiting to happen, what data do you have? before I purchased my van, I did a lot of research and read reviews from Consumer Reports but also from owners and Dodge owners consistently have the most problems. The interior is cheap plastics and nothing felt solid. When I open the upper glovebox, I expect the door to open not just pop open a little bit so you have to open it manually. This is a minor thing, but it's indicative of attention to detail. We had the Dodge SXT trim level and there was a Bluetooth button on the stereo head, when you push this button it would tell you that the option is not available. Could you imagine buying a truck that has a four-wheel-drive indicator and when you push the button you receive a message stating that four-wheel-drive is not available? The transmission lever felt flimsy and ready to fall apart, there was a lot of slop going side to side and it was not a gated shifter. I agree with you, my vans were messed up. But that is because they were Dodge. I have a long history with Dodge, my first car was a Dodge and it was a horrible vehicle, it was the predecessor to the Dodge shadow so I do not hold it against Dodge, it was a cheap vehicle and a first car. My 2nd car was a Dodge dynasty, an old man's car but I really loved that car, the dynasty was the predecessor to what my mother had which was a 94 Dodge Intrepid. That car was fast, fun, handled great and was a joy to drive. It had its issues, but overall, it was fun. My father had a Dodge ram 3500 van, what can you say? It was huge and handled like a van, I enjoyed driving it. My wife had a 2000 Intrepid and as much as we say that we would've loved to have kept that car, the ghost in the electrical system would make the interior lights flicker when driving down the road. We put several sets of window regulators and door locks in that car. When the car stopped on the train tracks in Boston and would not restart immediately, we gave serious thought to trading, that was when the vehicle was one year old. It finally did restart but she had to drive it 50 miles back in "limp home" mode. She had the top-of-the-line Intrepid ES with a 3.2 liter V-6 (the R/T was not out). We tried to maintain our love of Dodge, but with the amount of trouble we ran into with that car, it was very difficult. The final nail in the coffin was when we had to replace the battery a 3rd time. They put the battery in front of the passenger side front tire and it was absolutely miserable to get to. We tried to have the local Sam's Club install the new battery, they refused. It looks like I have higher expectations of a vehicle then you do. As I said, I looked at reviews and consistently for the past 10 years or more, Honda and Toyota have been exchanging first and 2nd place. Dodge/Chrysler has been in 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th , depending on what Kia/Hyundai/Mazda have on the market. The reviews for liability with Honda and Toyota have been at the very top, Dodge never had great ratings for reliability. If you are the type of person that is turning in the vehicle at 60 or 80,000 miles to get a new one, I would understand why you would say Dodge has a good product. When I buy a vehicle, it is for the long-term and now purchasing disabled driver minivans, you are looking at an $80,000 investment. I would rather put my money into an American made van like Honda or Toyota instead of a Canadian budget friendly wagon.
@bazouli509 жыл бұрын
***** so something got into the engine on 5 different vans between New Hampshire, Florida, and Texas? I would buy a Odyssey over Chrysler any day. No comfort in seats, not enough legroom, cargo space unlike Odyssey does, needs a fridge in it too, much much better MPG, better screen size in front and rear seats. Make stow and go better with much much comfy seats in rear seats and not so many steps to take seats in to the floor. And easier to put 3rd row seats down easier like Odyssey has. All this done and maybe consider one than.
@ingram122510 жыл бұрын
sure... and all that you added to your odyssey will be about 7-10K MORE than the Touring T&C that has comparable things. BTW... KIDS DON"T CARE HOW BIG THEIR DVD LCD SCREEN IS. food for thought. But for real, Im on the fence... Odyssey or T&C. I know that Odysseey's get only about 21mpg combined... on my limited text drive, I got 23mpg. T&C got me 26.7mpg mostly hwy (about 100miles city driving) driving after 600+ miles. Odyssey has grey leather seats or, for 40k+ you can get black leather seats. T&C has them at 30K. Grey leather seats are so... 1990's! There are so many features that the T&C provides, except for being built in america as they are assembled in Canada while the Odyssey is assembled in USA. It is a hard one to chew on... but I do know I couldnt afford a 40k+ van and moving to an "affordable" Odyssey with cloth seats and no RES just to stay at around 30K is a downgrade from my CX-9 Touring with bose/moonroof AND RES.

I have owned a 1997 Plymouth voyager for 17 years , my expenses have only been for normal wear and tear, I have absolutely no rust and only have 70 thousand miles on the 6 cylinder engine for which the oil has been changed every 3 thousand miles with synthetic 10 w30 it is worth nothing on a trade in, but would I buy another ,of course, go figure.

I really like the Town and Country, just not sure what model I want, trying to find the differences in Touring L ,Limited and S .. Does this S have automatic sliding doors and rear gate? Or push button start?

the stow and go feature... makes the seats really uncomfortable. Stow & Go feature is really pointless. lol That's what your trunk is for.... i'm still for Honda or toyota vans. They are reliable. I don't know about Chrylser just yet..... I had a plymouth voyager that just had problems after problems once it turned 10. I would rather expect problems to start after using it for 16 years.... by then i would consider getting rid of it.....

Jinu J I love the sto-n-go feature. I travel in my business with two adults and a ton of gear. This is the only van made that allows us to fold all of the seats into the floor so that we can transport valuable equipment in a very comfortable luxury environment on long trips. You can't beat the design and features with a Honda or Toyota!
@plmn939 жыл бұрын
Jinu J The best part about Stow and Go is the extra storage space it gives you for stuff that you don't need or want out in the open. Like emergency kits and such. Yeah, the seats are a compromise, but all vans compromise in one way or another.

Typical Chrysler product, if you went to a Chrysler dealer 10 years ago, don't bother going again, there's nothing new to see there.

You are so right; they have 10 year old technologies that have not kept up with any modern advances and their designs have not made any aerodynamic improvements. DOLT!!!

gotta agree some what. for their bread/butter vehicle, they should be doing much better with the design and interior material.

This version of the T&C (all trims) have been around since 2011... which received a totally revamped style than the previous generation which ran from like 2004-2010 or so. That said, I personal place value in cars that stay true to their design much like my 2011 CX-9 which has been around since the early to mid 2000's. The reason why manufactures decide to revamp and remake/re brand their cars is because they are not selling all that well. Insert the Chevy cavalier/cobalt/cruze/ When a manufacture builds a good thing, and leaves it alone sans minor cosmetic and tech. changes, than I have faith that that vehicle will survive. To each their own I suppose, but I'd rather not buy a car that gets a major overhaul/revamping/re-badging every 3-4 years.
@wiibaron10 жыл бұрын
Yeah you can get a Crossfire, PT Cruiser, Pacifica, Aspen, Magnum, Caliber, Liberty, Avenger, Sebring, or even a SRT4 Neon if you just ask the salesman. AND bring a time machine! The only engine left from then is the massively revised Hemi 5.7 and I don't think any tranny is left from then either. And U-connect is widely thought of as the best system available at any price.

Yup, typical. For the best of quality and resale value you gotta get the honda. The American ones fall apart and start sounding like a dying elephant in a couple years.
