2014 Cordova High School Drumline- "Shots" Cadence

It's pertinent to know that this is a small school that did not have a percussion instructor. Most of you know that a lot of band directors were brass or woodwind players in highschool, and then basically got a crash course in percussion in college. What generally ends up happening is the kids teach themselves for the most part, and then pass that knowledge on down each year, never having learned the basic fundamentals or thoroughly practiced with a metronome. That was the case with these kids before I started working with them. This video was taken early in marching season, so considering the level in which they started, they made amazing progress in a very short amount of time.

This is actually pretty good. Compared to other drumline I've seen perform this, you guys are pretty good.

Yeah, it was pretty good. Our third base didn't show up for rehearsal. This was after they were beat after a pretty gruesome evening practice. They were all tired, and the material was brand new. For multiple reasons I've heard them play this cadence much cleaner and with more energy. But yeah, they're a bright bunch. 4 of them had never touched a musical instrument as of a couple months before this was recorded.
