It's probably because they see the outro of chip playing a guitar, most likely assuming he is a musician. What makes it worse is that it never said on the video or the original description about him being a reporter, only "life and progress" gives him away as being not a musician. That's what I think idk if it's true

This is pure genius. Not a lot of sections or Band Directors know how to do this. Just take something simple and make it work. I am showing this to my drum section (which is a bunch of beginners,) and we are stealing it. Just to let you know. They picked up 80% of it the first day, and some of them have never held a stick or mallet. The rest of you can just get over yourself.

This comment section is one of the most toxic things I've seen in a while. Not everyone can be "the best." All of them are having fun doing something they love, and you guys are just here to talk trash about how bad they are. Is this the pinnacle of drumline playing? No, of course not. But that doesn't mean it can't be enjoyed. If you wanted to watch the best of the best, then this isn't the video for you, and that's okay. But there's no need for the sheer elitism that's being posted here. I especially love all the people who watched the video, went down to the comment section, and typed a comment to let everyone know that "I'm in 7th grade and I can play better than them." Good for you, you missed the entire point of the video. Nobody's claiming that these kids are the best. But they're having fun, and that's the point. It's just a reporter showing a group of aspiring musicians how to have a good time with their friends. Enjoy it for what it is.

Nice vid, Chip. When I was a teen, I took drum lessons from a guy who was a drum major with the Reading Buccaneers D&B Corps. We'd split each lesson into two equal sessions, with the first half devoted to learning to read music, and the second half playing along to a record trying out different ideas. When he got behind the kit to demonstrate something, I would be totally blown away by how he incorporated his drum line fills and technique into playing fills on any record that we were practicing to (we both loved anything by Chicago). Very, very unique sound.

I’m a percussionist, and I guess it’s kinda cringe to use double traditional, but why is everyone saying this video is trash because of it? The guy is just a news reporter having fun. Show a bit of respect.

I'm guessing people thought he meant he was actually part of a college drumline and thought he was a professional drummer
@Clipmations4 жыл бұрын
This is probably because drumline is divided into two types of drumlines you have your course style of drumline which is like dci and wgi then you have show style of drumline which is hbcu which is this

Respect for what? He didn’t do anything to get respect. He’s not an instructor; he barely seems to have any musical talent at all. It’s the same as if a news reporter went to a martial arts academy and started making Bruce Lee noises and doing the crane kick from Karate Kid. I’m happy for the kids. I’m sure this was a very cool moment for them, but this dude gets no respect. It’s borderline mockery.

i mean double traditional exists, but there is no point of using it considering people only used traditional because snares were tilted so they had to strengthen their left hand. Now most snares are not tilted so i dont really see the point in traditional grip at all, but hey what do i know i play quads.

This is an great groove, although I would tune those tenors and make sure the bass drum keep good posture and to not lean that can collapse your spine so I appreciate the drumline groove and how everything is planned just take those tips.
