Hi i see you reply to comment much appreciated I have a 2017 santa fe replaced this part but still have same issue also checked the coupler. Thanks
@hyundaitech2 ай бұрын
Did you check first the outer tie rod or inner tie rod or the steering rack? If they are all good and the mounting bolts for the universal joint is good and tight most likely the steering column issue, and i believe those 2017 santa fe models doesnt have those rubber coupling like the sonata. Hope that helps.

I wish I understood what exactly you were marking. I don’t understand what you were marking to have a reference for. I’m gonna try to do this on my 2013 Santa Fe soon.

I was just marking the position of the joint so that i dont have to recenter the steering wheel or do an alignment

Kamusta? I have a 2014 Santa Fe Sport. May knocking sound when turning the steering wheel especially when turning at low speeds.
@hyundaitech2 жыл бұрын
But if you move the steering wheel from left to right and vice versa on park does it make the same noise? I would check the suspension first especially if you said at low speed, if suspension and steering under the car is good, then check universal joint, park and move the steering wheel.
@PinoySilverback2 жыл бұрын
@@hyundaitech thanks for replying. It makes the same sound while in park. It's not very loud. I had the steering components (tie rods, joints, etc.)checked by two mechanics. Theh both said everything is good and tight.
@hyundaitech2 жыл бұрын
@@PinoySilverback like the way i did on the video, carefully place your hand on the joint ( make sure be mindful of your fingers) then turn the steering wheel if the universal joint is faulty you will feel some play on the joint, or if you visual check it if theres some grease coming out from the joint and yeah you have faulty universal joint.

Hi, did you remember the part #, or where you get the Part# and order from? I ordered one for my 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe base sport, part # 56400-4z000 according to hyundai website, but when I received it, the joint is too short for my car (when the joint is fully extended). The old one seems to be longer. any help will be appreciated. Thx

@@hyundaitech DG086570. According to online Hyundai parts, the part # is 56400-4z000, but when I received the order, the shaft was too short. Not sure if this is limited edition. Even the Power steering motor is an updated version without the rubber coupler. Thank you again for your help. I really appreciate it

@@pegasus75 hi the part number you provides is correct when using your vin number its 56400-4z000, unless theres a supersede number so best way is ask from dealer if theres a different part number for that part. Hope that helps

Hi, finally got the right part #, installed everything just like you did except I have to remove the MDPS module for better access to the bolt, anyway after I put everything together, there is a "bearing" noise that definitely comes from the steering column when I turn the wheel left and right. Did I miss something? No EPS light, the clock spring seems to be fine. I even grease the steering shaft a bit. Sorry to bother you, just hoping you can guide me to the right direction. thx again

Hi I was wondering if there's a way to determine if you're steering wheel is straight with a scan tool
@hyundaitech Жыл бұрын
Yeah you can check by reading the stearing angle. But the best way is thru alignment.

Is the clicking sound only appearing when the car has been driven a while? That's my case.

No it should all the time, and if you park your vehicle for awhile then try to start it then move the steering in either direction you usually hear a one click or something like that

Yeah you can still drive the car, as long joint is not falling apart. If its just noisy yeah it can wait a little bit until you fix it.

Hi Hyundai tech! I used your professional skills to detect problem on my u joint. Now when I disconnected shaft I didn’t disconnect the battery. In the process I must have turn steering wheel couple of times one way or another cause it wasn’t connected. When I installed new shaft the dash come with eps warning red light and also electronic stability control and down hill brake control lights show yellow. My question : is it because I was playing wit the de attached steering wheel and can it be fixed by connecting it to the diagnostic computer? Regards Anton
@hyundaitech Жыл бұрын
Yeah most likely when you remove the joint,. When you put everything back together was the steering wheel straight with the tires? Maybe try to straigthened the tires and the steering wheel together. If still doesnt work you need the scantool to monitor the steering angle and make it to zero then disconnect the u joint then the straight the tires, then reinstall everything. Hope that helps
