OK. THIS is the way instructional videos should be done. Camera angle and lighting clearly show what is being described at every point. Clear audio. Solid editing eliminates "filler" and transitions. Clear explanations that define all technical terms. Your segment regarding how to differentiate inner versus outer tie rod end failure was the simplest and most effective I've seen, and I've viewed literally thousands of auto repair videos. Very well done. Thanks, Josh!

I'm having troule with clunking noise driving over speed bumps ( slow or fast) and small depressions too. I brought it back to my dealer twice in the same day(wasn't fixed the 1st time) and still isn't fixed. Your video tutoriel explained alot about the suspenion system and how it works. Best explanation ever!!! I could listen to you all day. I find changing light bulbs complicated but you make everything you say so straight forward. This time I have a list of possible problems to ask the mecanic. Thanks a $1,000,000.

Outstanding tutorial. I am a 59 year old grandma and want to make myself knowledgeable about this rumbling noise coming from my front left wheel of my VW Jetta. This tutorial was extremely helpful. Now, once I get this "rumbling" noise investigated by the shop I will have a good idea what the mechanic is talking about and am able to make an educated decission.

For me being more of a do it myself this helped a lot cost me 35$ to get a shop to re press and inspect bushings on my lower control arms witch saved me the 487$ buying new ones but also saved me more by being able to check things myself and keeping things moderately cheaper but with quality parts I appreciate your videos because you give more details great views of the suspected issues thank you

This is an excellent, very informative summary! Detailed enough to get the points across but not so detailed as to be over the top. Kudos for actually putting your hand on the actual part you were describing as opposed to just pointing them out with an arrow as using your hand provides scale. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

Great video, really broke it down to where someone who doesn’t have any idea where to start could figure out what they’re problem May be. My problem ended up being the axle. Pulled the emergency brake, jacked up both front tires, put it in drive, driver side wheel wasn’t spinning too good(hardly at all), gave it some gas and sure enough, heard the grinding, seen the tire wobbling (changing the wheel bearing and hub as well). Parts come in Wednesday and I’ll be changing them out.

I've replaced most of my suspension and I think I've narrowed down my issue, a steering rack bushing that's hard to see. They get loose on my particular model of car and cause a really awful violent clunk, and if you let it get bad enough you can actually experience steering direction changes when hitting bumps. Not good. Thanks for the informative video, I liked it very much.

Whilst replacing it the 8mm nut on the top of the strut sheared off as I removed the inner 17mm nut that holds the top mount against the spring. Probably the best bit of advice I have ever had man, they are forecasting snow here in Britain now. The car is back on the road and still running ok, that's the main thing. There is great clarity to your presentation, best one I have seen I reckon. I will get back under the car with a pry bar as as soon as the weather improves, can put up with the rattle for a couple more weeks. Will not be beaten in the long run! You should check out my "Hummingbird Birdy" youtube film and build one for your motor. It is amazing how much fun attention they get, I am on my second generation one now, been running with them for over a year and still a public talking point everyday.

Thanks for the video. I have a similar problem, but I didn't see it (or at least didn't perceived it) covered in the video. I have this (kind of) loud clunking or click sound that happens when I am in full lock and starting to reverse. It does this twice and I am guessing that it is left and right wheel, but overall just once when reversing in full lock, doesn't matter if it is left or right. It also happens when I am entering my garage. Say that I am driving in the street arriving home, and when approaching the gate, I have to make a 90º curve, and half way here, I have this ramp just before the gate, and when the right wheel is going up this ramp, I also hear this single clunk sound. The clunking sound does not happen when going in a straigh line, forth or backwards, nor when going wide to mid angle circles. From what I can tell, it seems that the sound always comes from a point beneith the front of the car. Do you have any idea of what this could be? (the car is a Seat Ibiza II 1.9 TD 1.9 TDi 2000 model). Thanks again.

Very nice, informative video. One thing I noticed is when you rocked the wheel holding at 3 and 9 o'clock you said it was tie rods where most people say it is wheel bearing. Was that because you already knew it was the inner tie rod or was it because there was too much movement for it to be a wheel bearing?

nice video man quick and to the point. One other type of clunking that can happen that is common on Volkswagen in the subframe. The bolts that secure the subframe get worn and will cause the subframe to move when doing just about anything. The bolts always need replaced once removed and need torqued to spec or else they will go bad very quickly again. Signs of them being bad is by looking at the subframe where the bolts are and checking for scrape marks from the bolts sliding.

Solid Diagnostic Video Sir 🤙🏽 need to check my tires first for any bulging, but now that I’ve seen this I feel it might be my inner Tie Rod or the Strut. Thanks a lot

Just on anti roll bar/sway bar bushings, I slacken the bolt slightly allowing a little room between the flat part of the bushing and the frame and slide a thin rubber pad in their and tighten it back up. The reason I do this is because you can still get play in this over time even if the metal isn't touching, particularly on Ford mondeo mk3's which results in a dull thudding over bumpy roads.

Yup think my tie rods are bad. So far I've changed the cv axels, motor mounts, rotars, brakes, and control arms. The tie rods are the only other thing I can think of. I was told to move the tire like that but maybe I wasn't paying close enough attention. I'll also reach in and test it the way you showed. It got a 2005 Acura tl. Any advice would be great

Awesome! Just today I noticed my 1990 Miata was making some deep croaking noises from the front right while driving or at stand still when i turn to the right. Will use this to help me figure out this problem. Hopefully my first ever suspension/steering repair goes well!
