I think the MINI cooper S Roadster is a competitor. Despite being FWD, it's also a blast to drive, but it's faster, has more power, better gas mileage, a nicer interior, and better tech.

And add to that, the Mini Cooper S Roadster comes complete with absolutely terrible reliability. It’s a “bonus” that’s not available with the MX5. Darn!!!

You can't get a mustang gt for less than 30 grand new and you can't throw it around like a toy either. Hope the next gen Miata has a turbo at least

Yeah, but the Mustang is not a true sports car. It's either a grand tourer or in its most extreme iteration, a muscle car. THIS IS A SPORTS CAR. An S2000 and Boxster are sports cars.
