A lot of people posting negative comments here have probably never driven this car. I had all the same misconceptions until I sat in one and drove it. Once you do, you forget any issues with the interior or lack of tech. The driving experience this car delivers is WHY you buy this vehicle. That being said, this isn't my daily driver, & would be hard pressed to have it as a daily b/c it isn't a practical car.

I use it as a daily driver, and I've never truely been limited by practicality, as long as you don't cary more than a backpack and 5 bags of groceries it's rather good

I'm a woman in her 70's and this is my daily drive. Having had 4x4's for 25 years, my Miata HT is the best vehicle of them all ! The short shift manual 6 gear change is central to my driving. I feel that I am one with the car. Living in Cape Town affords my some of the most stunning scenic drives in the world. Should you pass me, I'm the bird grinning from ear to ear as this car is fun, fun, fun!

I drive a gun metal grey 2014 MX 5 NC. A ten second car. It came out of the box race ready with Le Mans paddle shifters on the steering wheel. Every time I drive it I'm in a James Bond movie. When people see it they ask, 'does it have machine guns behind the fog lights?' The license plate reads 009. It's definitely licensed to kill. Does a 'drift' nicely. Q branch read out, race ready with paddle shifters. A ten second car, does 0 to 100 mph in ten seconds. Double wish bone suspension and drive while flat tires makes her a nimble cat with tough paws. The body is made of rust resistant steel and carbon fiber (Kevlar) material. It has quarter inch metal armor under the engine and transmission. Stainless steel exhaust. A seven speaker Boise sound system keeps the Bond theme music coming thru 5 by 5.

Nice car, I’ve got a 1997 NA, 1.8L in black. So fun! The NC gets a lot of hate but I think they are still great cars for the price. Still new-ish (06-15), most of them don’t get thrashed like the NA/NB generations. I don’t think there’s a better time to get an NC 👍

It looks like the stability control wasn't defeated, at least not with a quick flip of the switch. Yeah, it let you spin the tires, but it'll catch sideways motion and control that for you. I have an old RX8 based on the same chassis, and it's old enough to be completely defeatable with a simple button press. Newer cars typically aren't fully defeatable and sometimes requires a very long press or special series of inputs to place the car into a special mode. On, it functions quite well, a very good system, even back in 2004 RX8. You almost can't do wrong. Off, you'll spin tires and go sideways rather easily. If the car isn't pitching sideways, stability control is still on even though you turned off traction control. It may do engine cut and/or ABS brake application on the outside front tire, sometimes noticeable feeling a lot like tire scrub. The FRS/BRZ does the ABS braking, and it pulses the brake and kind of feels like you're overdriving and sliding the outside front tire. The FRS/BRZ is a little too intrusive and does it slightly early. Mazda's feels better and allows a touch of slip before neutralling out the car, at least in the old RX8. I can't compare to a newer Miata as I have never driven one. I've only been in the older gens to date. p.s. The one handed steering bugs me to no end, lol. From a sport driving perspective it's poor form as it makes it very hard to react to changes. Plus you generally get a lot less tactile feel like that versus finger contact with both hands on the wheel in the 10 and 2 to 9 and 3 area. If you enjoy the parking lot fun, go have a look at your local SCCA autocross clubs and go to some events. They're cheap and a lot of fun.

hi Dave, TQ for the video, regardless of what the others replied on its negativities, it is still the most reliable fair-priced roadster. If they are looking for real performance, just throw extra cash and get themselves Porsche boxter or 911... What do u expect?
@texan1768 жыл бұрын
How does this top hold up in terms of not leaking? The design dates back about 9 years so the early cars have been on the road for some time. These are an incredible value as used cars. The 2011ish models with the Premium and Performance packages to get the HID headlights and LSD are retailing for $18K with under 20K miles on them. It kind of makes me wonder if the top becomes a huge liability long term. The Lexus hardtop convertibles cost big bucks to fix when they break. It's in the thousand dollar increments when SC or IS tops fail. Is the Miata top operated by only an electric motor or is it powered by a pump pressurizing a hydraulic system?
