Good stuff man. I just did this about 2 months ago. Banged my rear cover on a rock. Leaking all over the place. Had to remove it, hammer the cover to re-straighten and refill. Cheers bud.

If you haven't already. Be sure to replace your breather valve for the axle. Cheap insurance to prevent your seals from blowing out

Good idea. I never think about that because we rarely see mud or deep water.

@@DavidNaritaYT my rear pinion seal has a drip now and it was replaced about 9 months ago . I did read on forum about the vent . I’m in New England salt and rust belt . Said if vent was blocked puts pressure on seal when oil heats up . Looks like I’ll have to replace the seal again. Any part number for this 2006 frontier 4WD. Thanks for video . Cool work around with that hunting knife lol.

was there a specific amount of torque needed on the diff cover, or did you just tighten them down snug?

I got a 2011 Nissan Frontier and I have to use gear oil that has the limited slip additives. Was wondering if that diff had limited slip I couldn't tell.
@DavidNaritaYT3 жыл бұрын
It's a standard open diff. No lockers or limited slip, but Hopefully we'll be upgrading to some sort of locker soon. I used everything Nissan recommends for our diff. Everything should be in the description of this video. Thanks for watching!

Do you know the torque specs for the diff bolts? Planning on doing this to my 2005 frontier soon
@DavidNaritaYT3 жыл бұрын
I have it in my Haines Manuel but I've done plenty of diff covers and I just tighten it till it feels tight. I know that's not the best advice but I just know when it's tight enough. Google the specs and it should pop up if not let me know and I'll check my Haines Manuel for you

Great video! You gave me the confidence to replace the leaky diff in my 2016 frontier. What was the name of the sealant you got? You said it was Nissan silicone or something, and do you remember where abouts you got it? Again, thank you! Be back for more!
@DavidNaritaYT2 жыл бұрын
You're welcome!! I had to order the diff sealant at my local dealer. You won't find it in any store. Maybe order online, but I know the dealer has it for sure.

How long did you wait for the sealant to dry before you added the gear oil ?

Why did you use sealant instead of a new gasket ??
@DavidNaritaYT3 жыл бұрын
This is what the manufacturer suggests, however we will be changing it up because the sealant failed. I will make a video explaining my thoughts soon

@@davidnorris4980 you're right and I knew that before I made the video. But you can make a gasket. Maybe I'll make a video of making a gasket. "Gasket update" It's still doing great with no leaks!

You can but its suggested from the factory and I usually do what the factory and haynes recommend. At least my wheel studs haven't sheered off yet 🤣🤣🤣 wish I could have been there to witness the race truck though! Looks like you had a blast! Cheers bro 🍻
