2014 Snowstorm Arrival

With a big snow storm scheduled to arrive, Furhead and I went to the grocery store before the weather turned too bad. It was already a little treacherous when we started out, especially on smaller and less well traveled roads. Visibility was also poor.
Fortunately, the power never went out. We all stayed home and safe after this little trip.

My dad does not put the wipers up on our 04 Trailblazer and we never have problems and it NEVER leaves us stranded, certainly GM does make some good vehicles, yes it is Four wheel drive.

Bill I am here in Erie, PA. So far we keep getting record snowfall. It hit -10 last night, and they were forced to shut down schools due to the cold. But two feet of snow? Nah. KIDS get to school. Were used to white outs and large amounts of snow in a small amount of time. Get under a lake effect cloud that decides to stall, ur screwed. lol

wow its so flat there try living where I do where you have to drive up and down steep hills while coming down windy corners on icy or snowy roads yup one of the many joys of winter. so far so good

No scratches on the windshield caused by scraping the ice off this time? :-) It's too cold to snow here. It was 0°F when I got up this morning, and right now it's a balmy 5°. (See, I even bothered to put in an actual degree symbol, unlike all the people using an asterisk!)

I live in Wheeling, WV and we got down to -10F the night before last and yesterday only got to a high of 2. It was so cold businesses were shutting down, doctors offices were closing cause doctors and nurses couldn't get to work. Reason why they couldn't get to work was cause it rained the day before it got down to -10 so that left a big mess on the back roads, highways, and interstates. We only got a couple inches of snow but the frozen water all over the place made it a difficult task for anyone to get to work who needed to. They also called schools off because it was so cold. Area weathermen said it's the worst they've seen it here in 30 years.

I'm so glad I wasn't around for all the cold weather since Christmas. Unfortunately some of it made it's way to Florida and kept me off the beach for much of the time I was there. Back in New England now and I'm sure I will get my share of cold and snow.

We lucked out in Northeast Wisconsin in not getting much snow out of the storm. Maybe 1/2 inch if that. The high yesterday was -12. It got down to -21 last night. Right now it is -3 and its 12AM Wednesday.

putting wipers up is kinda common from what i seen. keep them from freezing to windshield and think maybe easier to scrap.

Umm we have white stuff here, it is called beach sand, never seen snow never had snow here in Perth, if we ever get snow it will be a problem, the houses here are made for a hot climate, we are experiencing temps in the low 30's at the moment (yes Centigrade like about 87 - 102 F)

I used to live in a small MS town where you'd see at LEAST 5 people leaving their car running out in the Piggly Wiggly parking lot while they are inside.....heck, I don't care WHERE I am, I take my keys out and LOCK the doors LOL

It was -15F in Michigan (-40F with wind chill), and I was frozen solid basically since my spare car had no heat... That and the car would take 6 attempts to start the car. My main car that has bad O2 sensors started up the first time, same as my mom's 99 GMC Safari, and my dad's Malibu; this was on a Monday night after getting out of work at 6am Tuesday morning.

The news of the extremely cold weather and snow in the US has been making some news here in Australia believe it or not, I've been hearing reports about it on the radio. A friend of mine who lives in Georgia was surprised to hear that the weather events have been reported here.

I watched the "start truck at -10f" and this video and I was wondering... aren't you guys required to use chains during winter? Wouldn't it be beneficial to you to install some chains on the wheels? Here in Romania, you get fined for not having winter tires and you're supposed to have chains installed on certain roads (mountains area) and whenever the common sense tells you (if the snow goes above a few inches)
