Had the same issue with my 2014 vw jetta same exact car as in vid. Was able to fix it today, I replaced the pcv valve as well as the camshaft adjuster magnet. Pretty sure it was the magnet at fault because it was sticking pretty bad and it’s a common fault among these volkswagens and audis. Hope this helps someone.

I don’t know if this helps but I had the same issue also my car wouldn’t start when warmed up and would work perfectly when cooled . My shop just got back to me telling me FOR SURE that my fuel pump driver module is faulty and needs to be replaced ( it’s the connector on top of the fuel pump mines was a green box) . I just ordered the part and am going to pop it in myself I’ll check back and let uk how it goes

Update: popped the new fuel pump driver module and sure enough that was my issue. No stalls, No rough idle, and no laggy acceleration.

I see this is from a year ago but I'm having the same issue. rough idle, unstable RPMs. Also if I pull the dip stick or open the oil fill cap the idle smooths out but its high. I can feel it sucking air when taking off the cap. I've replace the magnet, pcv, spark plugs, coil packs, oil change, air filter. Two things left to try are getting the intake valves cleaned and the throttle body.
@mackyj3889 ай бұрын
What year and engine? It may be the timing chain stretched or timing guides are broken. Most of the time a pvc valve or a magnet will fix the problem. If it's the 1.8 that common.

I have the same issue. Check engine light came on and both VW and my mechanic said it was engine timing chain. I got the camshaft sensor first and replaced it and same thing. Then spent 2200 to have the timing chain replaced. Same thing. Car burns a lot of oil. I keep a 5 gal in my trunk and just fill it. Today same issue car rpm at 1k jumps , mechanic wants to clean sensor connects and throttle body. I hope that fixes it. If that doesn't work , I will replace pcv valve and camshaft adjustment magnet as mentioned in one of the comments above. I'd rather fix this and keep the car for as long as I can. The grass isn't always greener on the other side, it's greener where you water it. (If I can keep paying for the repairs that is.)
@amird5543 Жыл бұрын
New air filter, new spark plugs with housing, new camshaft sensor, new engine timing chain, regular oil changes and constantly adding oil because it burns a lot, mechanic said it is from piston rings being bad not worth it to change it.
