This video was a huge help ! I am 16 and have a 2013 VW Touareg tdi lux . For about a week the ac was blowing out weak air and taking a while to turn on . It final crapes out and when turning the ac on and it does nothing. It was a sign that it was the blower motor because it was not blowing any air. Knowing nothing about cars i KZbin it and this was very helpful. Took me (a person that knows nothing about cars ) just about 1 hour. I got the part from a auto zone along with a 6 inch extension for about $260. After getting the panel off it is pretty self explanatory. After changing the battery in this car a few months earlier this was a breeze. If you don’t know the battery is under the drivers seat. 😒 these German cars can be a pain in the ass ! Also not a car guy and I did the battery a year ago on my 2012 and it took a couple of hours. It lasted 10 years tho so that’s impressive. Now my blower motor has gone (stops working, sometimes turns on)but this looks a lot easier.

Hey man. I fixed it thank to you. Took 2 hours. Replaced the cabin filter while I was at it too. 2014 Treg just like the one you were working on. The hardest part was getting some of the screws to align back into place for reassembly. $250 for the motor $30 tools $25 filter Works perfect. I think I saved $1000 not going to the dealer.

Wife is complaining about the AC not blowing strong enough. She can restart the car and it works for a bit, but then it becomes weak again. Temp is never an issue, just the amount of blown air. 2016 US Touareg, 84k miles. I will pick up this part soon and do the install. Your video is better than other ones out there. (Removing complete glove box and fuse panel? C'mon...)

Hey can you tell me the symptoms? Mine wont blow any air. I turn the heat or ac on and the screen shows but no air of any kind is coming on. Is that the same issue ?

@aislcsales sounds like most likely you are having a blower motor issue, scan the hvac module for faults

@@EuropeanAutoRepair Thanks. I dont have a scanner maybe ill take it to autozone. I see that blowers are around $50 bucks on amazon. Hope that I can replace it with minimal experience myself. The thing worked intermittently sometimes on sometimes off but now it doesn’t work at all. It makes sense that its the blower motor.

@aislcsales it just wasn’t blowing. Seems like everything else was working but no pressure out the vents. This solved it.

Great video thank you! Successfully changed out the blower motor, but the new unit seems to run slower, like at level 3-4 very little air is blowing and even on maximum some air blows, but no where near as much as with the original. Any idea is that just the replacement motor, or is there anything else i can check? Any help much appreciated!

Hi, first of all thanks for the video it's very clear. My 2011 Touareg2 has a problem with the air blower, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, and the air never comes out at its maximum. Do you think it's the air blower or the resistor?

I would normally say likely problem with resistor but being how commonly the blower motors fail on these things the blower motor is still my guess

I’m having the same issue. I was told with the Touareg (2011 TDI here) the resistor is actually integrated into the blower motor and to replace the blower motor. I spent 2 weeks trying to buy just the resistor before I figured this out so hope this helps you and/or someone else reading this comment!

@@EuropeanAutoRepair I got a u140100 code in the hvac which states “function resistance due to overvoltage” would that also be the blower. Clear the code with the climate off it stays cleared. Turn it on the code comes right back.

That overvoltage fault is a little strange, may have a alternator issue or incorrect battery/ coding. Still if I had to guess I'd say you have a intermittent Blower motor problem.
