2015-2022 2nd Gen Chevy Colorado GMC Canyon HVAC Climate Control Module Info Screen Replacement

In this video I show how I removed and replaced the climate control module on my 2018 Chevy Colorado Z71 4WD with the 3.6L V6. The part is not serviceable and the little LED bulbs have a habit of burning out, so if you want it fixed you have to replace the whole module. Some control options and part numbers may be different for my trim level than you may see on your application, but the concept should be the same. This will also get access to the infotainment screen to replace, although I don’t get into too much detail on that.

I've had two of my lights burned out for at least two years now... Good to know its an easyish fix if I ever really want to get to it.

It wasn’t bad at all. I guess it just depends if a couple burnt out bulbs are worth $100 or so for you…

Thanks for the video. It was very helpful! I had the exact same issue where a couple of the LED lights were not working on my 2019 Colorado. Definitely not something you would expect to happen on a vehicle with only 50k miles. The only issue I had was with that blue cable. I ended up breaking the connector locking tab trying to "gently" release it with a small flat blade screwdriver. It still works fine without the locking tab and the connector seems to fit pretty tight even without it. Hopefully it stays working.

Thanks for this this . After i took the 4 screws off the Panel seemed so tight that i did not want to force off but now i see there are just clips holding it in

great video , helped me . I just replaced my climate control mod. That blue cable was a pain to disconnect. I sat in passenger seat and leaned over center console, instead of laying on floor like you did. The rest wasn't bad. Thanks for video

Mine was IOR model and had 2 additional plugs but I was able to pop the cable clamps loose and replaced without unplugging anything then pushed clamps back in

Yesterday, my cooling fan ran the whole hour I drove around, and continued to run for 5 minutes after I turned it off, so I disconnected the battery. What do you expect for $40k..

I had my truck in for a service several years ago. The service writer pointed that a light was out. They wanted $500 to replace that thing. I did not fall for that. How much is that part?

Has anyone tried to take one of these apart, to see what is happening? Both mine and my friend’s truck, both 2019 Colorados ( his top end, mine lower end) have the same blown light issues. Mine went bad after only 3 years. The cost to get this fixed/replaced was ridiculous. The cost that manufacturers are charging for vehicles-this type of stuff should not being going bad after a few years. What’s worse, this is the forth unusual item that has needed to be replaced on a 2019 Colorado, with less than 60,000 miles on it. Hey Chevy/GM, is the quality of your vehicles really as good as you claim it is? Maybe you should rethink that!

I’m pretty sure this is the second time it’s been replaced on mine. RockAuto sells the original ACDelco part for $85 before tax and shipping, and it’s a quick 15 minute job. Help save a little $$
