For years, I always thought I'd end up with one of these when the time came to buy an SUV. Honda V6, SH-AWD, nifty features (BSM, RCTA (from 2016), ELS audio) on tech package and above etc. However I test drove 3 of them last Fall (2 2014s and 1 2016). All drove really well...smooth engine and ride on ideal roads, 9 speed in 2016 was a bit jerky (as expected), but the deal breaker was that the ride quality over bumpy roads was not ideal at all. I wasn't expecting Lexus levels of ride comfort but the way the entire body of the MDX would shake and rattle on poorly surfaced roads was just too much for me. I had to pass. If I lived in a place where roads were mostly smooth, I would have purchased. But with Mass roads, no dice. Ride quality significantly improved with the current geenration though.

They had suspension issues

There's currently a recall on the 3.5 2015-2019 for catastrophic engine damage from faulty internal parts.
