I've been a loyal Acura/Honda customer since 1985. Am currently driving my 8th Acura, which is a '16 TLX V6 FWD Advance. I have owned 5 TLs, a TSX V6 and an Integra prior to purchasing my TLX. I've had my TLX for 5 months now and I like it a lot. I will concede that its biggest weakness is the 9 speed transmission. '15 models were prone to harsh shifting from this transmission. Acura ironed out the rough shifts in the '16 and newer models. Mine shifts smoothly but my biggest gripe is that it is a bit lazy to downshift in any driving mode besides Sport Plus which is a mode not conducive to daily driving. I keep mine in Sport mode and have accepted the slightly lazy shifting. My '13 TL Advance that I had just prior to buying my TLX had sharper driving dynamics and was a sheer delight to drive. From a pure driving perspective the TL trumps the TLX. However, the TLX shines in other areas. It's more refined, gets much better fuel economy and is arguably better looking. The TLX also offers many features unavailable on the TL. The TLX rides well and is comfortable. I recently took a 3 hour road trip and was blown away by my fuel economy. I averaged 39 mpg on that trip. The best my TL ever did on the same trip was about 32 mpg. My TLX is the Slate Silver Metallic color which I think is one of the most attractive colors offered for the '16 year model. I never buy new cars. I only buy low mileage, gently used Acuras in top notch shape. I drive a lot each year so I don't tend to keep my vehicles very long, typically 2 years or so. I'm already eyeing my next car which will very likely be an '18 TLX with the A-Spec package. Even though the A-Spec package is primarily a visual enhancement, Acura did make other improvements to their entire TLX lineup for '18 which address the slight criticisms I have with my '16. It will be at least a year or so before I'm ready to purchase my next one though. Overall my TLX has many more pros than cons and I have no regrets purchasing it. I enjoy driving it every day. It's a cool car.

I have a 2015 Acura T.L.X. four door sedan. It has the six cylinder motor so it moves right out !!! The safety features are impressive, the ride is smooth, the interior is luxurious and the sound system rocks ..So far so good !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great car, high tech comfy ride smooth handling, from a grease monkey,s point of view, you take an already well built car and take it to an even higher level, the Acura TLX/ type s is a huge step up from the civic, SI and yet borrow from the civic, what a hell of a good combination.

tlx or is250?
@imjsutthatguy9 жыл бұрын
marcos estrada I had the same dilemma when I went car shopping. I went with the TLX. You can't beat it price wise and it looks classy to boot. The IS 250 might turn more heads but when you put the peddle to the metal and all 290 horses propel you away from the dealership with the 10000 dollars you saved you'll be a happy camper. If your like me you wont want the IS250 when you get to the dealer(its soooo slow) you'll want the 350 and that's gonna cost you.
@marcosestrada20129 жыл бұрын
Thanks! honestly, that's EXACTLY how i feel like.... i'd rather go with the 350 but you're right about the cost... therefore, I'll go with your advice (which is actually what I've been thinking for awhile now), TLX!!!! ;) I'm sure i'll be a happy camper! :)

Looks like the new accord. So the question is, why buy this if you can buy a Honda for a fraction of the price? Or more important for some, why buy an acura that looks like a Honda?
@akk8009 жыл бұрын
Agreed, and accord coupe looks much better too.
@mrxyz2k9 жыл бұрын
Well, you can with Honda have a coupe, while there's no Acura coupe.Furthermore, in middle east, Accord doesn't come with CMBS or LKA. Even if it's in your country loaded with those nice features, it won't come with AWD or P-AWS. Also, I believe it's loaded there with Acura link or Acura Apps in your mobile. And by the way, I believe this car is maybe a little shorter than accord, it's the middle size saloon of Acura, not RLX.

@cube1us8 жыл бұрын
When I drove an ILX a couple of years ago, it was too small to fit our needs. But that is just me. If your TSX is plenty large for you than an ILX might be the way to go. If your TSX seems cramped at times, say, when packing for vacation or when you have rear seat passengers, or you want at least as much comfort as the TSX, then the TLX might be preferrable. Gas mileage, desired acceleration characteristics, value of AWD or not would all be a factor as well.

I made the mistake of trading my TL for a TLX, V6 SH-AWD what a disappointment, worst transmission ever built, have constant vibration issues due to some manufacturing defect which their engineers have yet to figure out and it is becoming a huge problem for a lot of owners. JUNK CAR, DO NOT BUY ONE !!!
@jcost00998 жыл бұрын
Have they fixed it for you? I am considering the '16 TLX with a trade in of my '09 TL. I have been searching the blogs and such for any issues before I go through with it. Yours is the only post I have seen thus far with that issue. Thanks for the heads up and I will continue to do my homework!
