2015 BMW i3 Review

In comparison with its competitors, the i3 is advanced and is built on an entirely new architecture that BMW has developed. Overall the vehicle still shares the same premium interior finishes and driving characteristics of a traditional BMW. I talk about the drivetrain in order to get you prepared for the BMW i8.

Very nice review. After a couple of weeks, I can say it's not a car for everybody: families of 4 or most aren't welcome for a long trip, to say the least. But if you are ready to adapt your lifestyle and your driving style to it, this is the greatest car. Very suitable for commuting city drivers or secondary roads trip lovers. Here's what I do love: I never travelled this way before. I was on the highway all the time, eyes right on the road. This car gives you the possibility to enjoy the eye sight, meet new people at the charging station, search for spots you never seen to charge the car and so on. And the amazing thing is this: it's not a big deal adding 20-30 minutes to your 300km trip (that happens less than 5 times a year for the normal driver). So you learn to prepare your trips differently. I don't know if my next one will be a BMW. But I know for a fact i'm never going back to a 100% petrol car. Never.

Yes this model has the auxiliary cabin heating system. In Canada all trim models include the system. I don't think the onboard computer was very accurate. I didn't start with a full battery either. I think that the system has a very generous reserve to remove range anxiety. But I also know that battery efficiency is decreased in colder conditions. If you keep the battery plugged into an outlet, the battery heating system will ensure that the battery is at optimum running conditions. I picked up this car in the lot and it was probably sitting for a while. That's probably why we see the low range number. The car was probably not in its optimal range.

Hi, about the centre entertainment screen, why i saw some difference design in some youtube video? Some video show the screen is flat glass covered like smartphone, but some video showed that it has a thick black plastic bezel surround the screen? Thanks and nice video!!!

There might be different versions of the idrive system. The head unit is different in some countries.

+NETVO TV It actually depends on the options you take with the car. There's a small screen and a bigger one. Either way, you used the knob and never put your fingers on the screen.

Was this test car equipped with the optional heat pump? 80km range on full charge seems a bit low. But no heat pump could explan it. The heat pump reduces the energy cost of the heater by 50%, which adds up to 30% range claims BMW. Would be interrresting for me as i consider buying one.

+Wajahat Haider insurance will vary depending on your location and age. Best thing to do is perform an online quote from a reputable insurance company. As for incentives, dealerships will include the incentives into your final price. I believe minimum in Ontario is currently $8000 for a gas generator electric car. On that note you should get a larger inventive when opting for the all electric I3. Just be aware of range anxiety. The I3 on a good day gets around 150km. The range extender is a great investment in my opinion.

+Looking Again You actually have no idea how much money in gas, insurance and security I save driving this car. Plus, it's really, really fun to drive. Try before judging, you could be very surprised.
