I just got my 18 F3S. Very impressed so far. I also ride a VTX 1800f. This thing absolutely flies around corners. I doubt I'll even use sport mode much. In normal mode it's sideways half the time. 😃 Motorcycle dudes sometimes snub me, I did too until I rode one. Not a replacement for anything I ride, but a extremely fun addition. Don't hesitate to consider owning one. Life is short. Have a laugh.

Great review. Fair pros and cons. I love this bike. Looking at a couple this weekend. I've ridden numerous motorcycles, but I am getting risk-averse as I age. When I start fearing every oil patch, gravel/sand/debris, and water on the road (especially on the twisties), that's when I'll be most likely to dump a 2-wheel and injure myself. Not to mention the inevitable dropping a heavy cruiser or touring bike when it tips to one side with the bars turned at very slow speeds. It happens to everyone. These Spyders are super fun and much, much more stable/safer than a 2-wheel ride (but nothing beats a 2-wheel on a curvy ride through canyons). Some of my most fun times were riding Can-am quads on bumpy trails and forestry roads, Sea-Doo's on lakes, snowmobiles in Northern Wisconsin, and Polaris side-by-sides on high-elevation mountain paths in Utah. The Spyder seems to offer a similar type of ride for the street. It really is a snowmobile/quad for the road. The Spyder F3 feels most right to me at this point in life.

Been thinking about one of these. Three wheel fun for sure. Been ridding motorcycles for about 35 years. Had a major stroke about 3 years ago and my balance is not so good any more. This could get me back on the road in the wind again!! Drive about 1000+ miles a week at work as a sort of UPS delivery job, no problem driving. So one of these would suite me perfectly!!!

definitely be one your best options out there. 2 things he mentioned not true are you can put your feet down with the semi auto and not roll even in gear..also they have power steering and i have ridden with 70 yr olds and they didn't have problems. best of luck in your search and hope you find what your looking for. check out spyderlovers.com forum for more info.

Got one this last November. F-3S it is a blast to ride as I have only ridden it 3 times so far. It’s getting really cold now. Can’t wait for this next season. Found one with only 705 miles on it. Gravity Gray with the orange frame and handle bars. It’s February 1st and they are calling for a big snow storm tomorrow, Drats!!

I agree with you on the tracking and low speed turning does take some effort. I did the demo about 1 1/2 years ago. I had the automatic transmission and saddle bags on my demo. The auto downshift was weird at first. Even the radio lowers the sound when u start slowing down and when u speed back up it goes back to where you had the volume set. With the windscreen down I did get some helmet buffing and it felt like I wanted to blown off the vehicle. So I kept it about have way up and it was perfect. I'm about 5'8" tall. Overall if I couldn't ride 2 wheels for some reason I would definitely buy a Cam Am.

I have watched this video several times and I love your commentary However,. I am not sure if you have learned by now, but you can place the semi-automatic F3 Spyders in neutral once you come to a complete stop. Therefore, you can put your feet down at a stoplight without having to purchase the manual version.

Really liked the way you did the review..kudos. I have a Can Am Spyder RT and demo'ed an F-3S just this week with the semi-automatic. Since I was already an owner they let me take it out by myself and said "just come back 'whenever'"! I had a great ride. Mine is a twin so this three has gobs more torque and a much stiffer suspension. It shifts better, tracks better and will certainly out accelerate my RT. I rode for over an hour and now am spoiled! Thanks again!

Great review, I had a Valkyrie that had an Arlen Ness seat front and back with a backrest that could be switched to the drivers position while ridding alone. That seat was hard as a rock at 1st impression, however it was very supportive for the long rides. Wife and I could ride hundreds of miles with great comfort! No saddle sore butts! Many complained about the factory seat cause it was too soft! Didn’t support you very well. Rode mine with the factory seat and didn’t like it at all! The Ness seat spoiled me, it was hard but provided the support need on long rides! Was great on short rides too! Miss that bike! But oh well shouldn’t have sold it! Was out of work for a while and the property taxes came due, the bike was owned clear and free so it had to be sold!🤬 Still have my 1st street bike, I’m never selling that one! 1983 LTD 750 Kawasaki with 36000 miles! The wife suggested I sell it and it almost started a fight!!! I told her NO NEVER! That bike is actually going up in value!! My buddy has an old 82 KZ 1000 that was his Dads. It is in mint condition with low miles! He told me they are really getting big money on the market if they are mint. Which both of ours are. I don’t care what they sell for, I’m keeping mine!! Love those old LTD Models!! They were the 1st Japanese cruisers. Very pretty bike, great lines. Not like the old Japanese bikes that looked like a surf board!! LTD’s had a really slick look! Thinking about one of these Can Am’s. I understand they now only make the automatic transmission in them. I would have the get the 1330cc model. Besides the smaller ones only come with the CVT transmission! Yuck! I’m not a fan of CVT’s in cars, so that’s a big no in my book!!! Like the dual clutch in the new Hyundai cars I have driven so it would be a big ok for me!! Very fast shifting! I understand they are pretty slick in these Spyder’s, no need to come off the gas just shift with power on!!!😉😘😄

Excellent non bias review and test ride Bryan. I must admit to not liking the look of them (we saw a German biker with one when we were going to Germany in 2013) and would suggest that they're perfect for a biker with arthritis problems who finds holding a two wheeled bike too much to handle at slow speeds or stationary. When you returned to your FJR, it was like being reunited with a good friend. No comparison!

Not your issue, but I was just chatting with a Spyder owner the other day (at Sunset Beach in Tarpon Springs Fl). He was riding a 2013 Spyder, the touring model with the high end package (beautiful trim and seating). What he relayed was scary! His machine as I wrote, a 2013, under warranty has had transmission problems right from the gitgo. Looked at by his dealer on three different occasions (told it was fixed reached time); only to have the same or a unique problem arise with the bike's shifting. Not what I would want to have happen when buying a toy with it's price tag. The fellow has concluded that even though they are trying to do what's right (the dealer), they simply don't have the technicians (at the level they need to be at)...

when you came up to that signal light at around 9:48 and saw that yu were 1st in line, it worried me a little that the light for you to turn left wasnt actually going to change for you, I have seen this happen to Many bikers, cause if I remember correctly, and I know that this is only for some lights, there are wires undetr the pavement that tells the light in a way that there is a vehicle waiting to turn left, but since a bike like your weighs a bit less that a car or truck, sometimes the weight of your bike isnt enough to lets say TRIP that wire to tell the light that yu are there waiting to turn, and I have seen Many bikers that are Forced to actually Run that light because it wouldn't change for them.......

We just traded in our '11 RT Limited for a leftover '14 RT-S - we loved the cognac and black combination. We're unfortunately in Wisconsin so we've got some time before we get it on the road. The RT has power assisted steering ... Low speed is still a bit of work but if you're looking for something for your parents, it is worth a try. The 1330 triple should be a lot better than the 990 twin - even though your review was on the F3, that same motor now powers the RT series as well. Anyway, thank you for the excellent informative and unbiased review.

Liked your video, BUT I think you gave way too much commentary on the "power-assisted" steering. Two things... 1) everyone should have been taught in driver training that you don't turn the wheel (handlebars in this case) when you're not moving. As you move, you dial in the steering. It saves your tires, your effort, and your power steering if you have it. 2) My wife was born before Kennedy became president, and she had no problem whatsoever steering an RT. Perhaps the RT is a little easier to steer than the F3, or she's just a very strong woman, but I'm guessing that means it's not really an issue.
