Wish they'd had a competent person to talk specs...never ever ever has 5 th whee, towing capacity been less than the bumper.....until her lol... The figures she was quoting were the max for a 3500 duramax DRW on the bumper,not a 2500, then she quoted the 6.0 gas max trailer weight with 4.10 bumper pull or 5 th wheel...(13200).unbelievable the lack of knowledge on there own product..

The 6.0L motor has been around for a long time and they are known for lasting almost as long as diesels. They have a nice torque curve and are only available with 4.10 gears now. Fast lane truck did a comparo between Chevy, Ram, and Ford in 2500 gas engine trim and the that "dog" was faster than the ford 6.2 and the new 6.4 hemi. I guarantee you that neither the 6.2 or the 6.4 will touch the 6.0L in longevity.

I beg to differ...living in Texas you see what real trucks are made of. The GM 6.0 never makes it past 250k-300k, which yes is long but not as long as Ford gas. I've seen dozens(literally) of Ford gas engines meet 500k. Including the 5.4 V8...which shouldn't be in that heavy of a truck. Not to mention the 6.0 cant do more than a 1/2 ton can do. My dad has the 2003 2500 6.0l, and i have an 2004 f150 4.6; though my truck isn't rated for it we put the heavy loads on my truck in order to get the job done. His truck SCREAMS like a little girl when towing anything over 5,000lbs. Not to mention mine will get better gas mileage while doing it. That's partly why i stick with Ford, they build trucks right.
@WilliamStewart1
@WilliamStewart1 10 жыл бұрын
No modern day ford engine will make it past 500k. All this ohc stuff is garbage. Ever since ford went modular they have had the worst truck engines. Granted the 300 and 460 were among the best truck engines built, and ford does build a good truck, but the new engines are garbage. On to what you said about the 5.4, they were an ok engine if you could see past the tick their whole life. Not to mention you could buy a new truck with the amount your going to spend on oil and changing the cam phasers out every time you fill up. I wish I could bring you to my work to see how many kms we have on our 6.0 work trucks. Some have almost 600,000 km on them. As far as I'm concerned, if it doesn't have pushrods, it doesn't belong in a truck (diesels exempted). I'm not putting your Ford's down, like I said, they are a solid truck they just have garbage motors. Maybe you just haven't been exposed to enough Chevy V8's, to say they aren't hands down the best is truly arrogant. GM has done a lot of stupid things in the past, they have even built some pretty shitty cars. But they have never built a bad V8.
@blackiechane

if ford motors are so great then how come nobody swap them or upgrades them... exactly you cant beat a LS motor, know ill give ford the straight 6 that was good motor back in the day
@TexasWarBonnet
@TexasWarBonnet 10 жыл бұрын
William Stewart I agree with you that yes not all Ford gas were great but in what i've seen they have just not fit my lifestyle. One of my good friends has an f150 5.0 with 450,000+miles and is still going, granted its not 500,000mi. but its in the ballpark. Not to mention the 6.2l is a cast iron block and is nearly a copy of the early 4.6/5.4 and those i've read many cases see over 600,000mi, one of which was showcased and a 5.4 had made it to 1,200,000miles. I'll admit yes GM V8's are great engines they would without a doubt would be my next pick, i think the 5.3 V8 is one of the best sounding V8's i've ever heard, with great power. And yes they're much easier to upgrade and modify. I will also admit that Ford's are harder to work on, however in my opinion we hardly ever work on them in comparison to our GM vehicles. No disrespect at all; I love Ford and GM over anything else hands down! I guess it really comes down to how the driver/owner really takes care of the vehicle and the environment the vehicle best performs in.

Why not advertise mpg? My 01 2500HD LB7 Duramax gets mid 20s for mpg on average. That alone may persuade more people to buy the Diesel. It's also fun to tow 15k lbs down the highway at 70mph. 280,000 miles and still going strong.

I hate those stupid assist steps on the new Chevy's. Who puts engineering in assist steps that are 2-4" lower than what your climbing onto. If your building assist steps make them half way between the ground and where your climbing onto like fords rear tail gate assist. Also why carry over engines that 6.0 should have been turfed along time ago they should have the 6.2 in there better millage and power! Come on GM wake up!
@Shawn_Magara
@Shawn_Magara 10 жыл бұрын
It's what they saw fit, They decided the step there fit best and it is more than 4" difference. It's not like they try a new hairdo new engines are a million dollar investment with all production, lost/gained customers, and design needed to go into it. The 6.0 is the workhorse and they know it's reliability. If it ain't broke don't fix it. If you want mileage you get the diesel anyway, and if you don't think so your driving in the city and heavy duty trucks are for towing down the highway.

Eddie Hixson No it's actually the 6.0 in the HD trucks. The 6.2 is in the 1500's. Yeah it's stupid but that's the way GM is selling it. The 6.2 is on limited production now until they get more 5.3 V8's & 4.3 V6's on the road to boost the overall average mileage numbers. Feds are breathing down their neck to get the numbers up. I was told by my local dealer if I wanted a 6.2 High Country I better get one now because they'd not be getting any for awhile because of what I previously said.

The lady in the video didn't seem to know much about the truck. I would hope the truck would pull more on a fifth wheel than number pull. To anyone saying the 6.0 is a dog, it runs better than the other options. All new chevys feel like dogs with the amount of torque management they put in the ecu. I tune all my own vehicles, and even I didn't believe how much you can get out of them, just running the transmission tune. The 6.0 in my g8 felt like a completely different car after I dyno tuned it. Picked up 30hp and 35 ft lbs. But the best part was the 6l80e didn't feel like a sloppy mess. In my opinion everyone just needs to have their new vehicle dyno tunned. Night and day difference, and as an added bonus as rich as cars run from the factory, leaning the air fuel to 14.7 while driving helps a lot on the gas mileage too. And le motors are easy to work on. A ford mod motor, and a dodge hemi can't touch an ls engine for power and reliability. My 05 2500hd has a 6.0 and 180k, and is still running strong. Might soon be time for a new oil pump though, boo

The 2015 superduty can tow up to 20,000lbs or 22,000lbs in the single wheel and the dually can tow up to 31,200lbs and with a new towing package it could tow 34 or 35,000lbs. And now has 440 horse power and 860 pound foot of torque, and in the 6.2 I think it`s might be 380 horse power and 430 pound foot of torque for 2015? Not to sure but I did hear it would be getting more power and torque. I also still like the ford tail gate step better I have a 2014 sierra slt with a 6.2 and I hate the bumper step every time I take it off-road it gets filled with mud then if you want to get into the box you get your shoes or any other foot wear dirty. But they both have there ups and downs.

You know; it's not all about what the truck can do...It's about how long the truck can do it. Ford's had shit rolling off of the factory since the 7.3 was discontinued; [sure] it could tow a lot, but is it really that reliable? The answer is now yes, but wasn't that way since the 2000's. The 6.7 Scorpions and Gen2 6.7's are amazing, but it seriously took Ford 3 full overhaul engine revisions from Navistar International to finally call it quits to make their own Super Duty powerplants. Dodge had Cummins 12 valves for a long damn time; and Chevy's had the Duramax since the 2000's. The difference, is that they actually improved on their designs rather than thinking it's better to reinvent the diesel engine and ruining everything good they started with. So before you think for everyone and their reasons for sinking over 50k for a HD or SD rig (solely on what its towing capacity, HP, and LB/Footage is, realize the history behind the vehicle; it's not JUST brand loyalty.
@kylefitzgerald4419
@kylefitzgerald4419 10 жыл бұрын
***** I totally agree, Ford has had lots of engines in the superduty,and yeah cummins and duramax have been their since the 90`s and 2000`s. But you do know that Ford owned cummins back in the 60`s and 70`s. The way I know this is because my grandfather owned a ford dealer ship then and he had an f-250 with a cummins until just 10 years ago then he got a newer 1/2 ton then etc newer trucks. Now though the part that makes me made on the silverado is that you look and it has an allison tranny in and a spicer rear end. Now it needs to get more torque and power. I know it is a strong puller already but when you look it`s starting to fall a little behind in the torque and power segment, like the gen2 6.7 has 440 horse power and 860 pounds foot of torque, the ram has I think in horse power correct me if I am wrong but close to 390 to 400 horse power and then 850 pound foot of torque. The Chevy is 397 and 767 pound foot of torque. Now those are pretty good but could be better concidering it`s only a litter behind the others, maybe a bigger turbo or like dodge a high output. and the could get 830 to 840 pounds foot of torque and like 420hp. Now this is not me putting chevy down I like chevy but get recalls fixed and more torque and hp then I will think about another chevy but I have a 14 sierra slt 6.2 and I have had 5 recalls or so.

I'm still not willing willing to pay 2 times as much for a Chevy truck over a Ford truck. Chevy needs to work on their prices or talk to the dealers about mark up - one example is the chevy dealer near me wanted more for a v6 Camaro than for a fully loaded Mustang GT. I think Chevy stays is business from customer loyalty and not from people who actually compare.

+chris driscoll The Block in the 2500 is iron making it "heavy duty". The block in the 6.2 is aluminum and isn't considered heavy duty and cant be put in a heavy duty pickup.

Hey guys, srsly you guys, what if the trucks weren't so tall? Heavy duty trucks in the past haven't been so tall... Then you wouldn't need these steps.

They need to lose the cables for the tailgate, if they are going to put a damn step right there. That's just a stupid over sight and not safe at all.

Steel hood? Why? You could probably save 20lbs by using an aluminum one.

New 2015 ford f150 blows this away with technology and innovative new features. GM is a joke they barely change shit mostly plastic. Ford had major plastic also in their interior but they DID something about it and changed it for the 2015 models what has chevy done? same garbage every year from GM they better bring out a new truck or Ford is taking them down fast.
