I just wanna say my hat is off to you sir. I am very mechanically inclined. But don't really work on anything this new. Found all your information to be very valuable. Especially the air hammer part that was a life saver. Many thanks again.for posting your video.

Thanks for the detailed video and sharing. This made it straightforward and doable by someone that hadn’t done it before.

I used a Allen wrench and put the short side into a hole on the water pump pully and the long end I wedged into the tensioner bracket, used a adjustable wrench and 3 foot pipe and the fan clutch came right off. Like knife through butter. Put a V 6 fan in it and eliminated the clutch fan and the big ugly fan shroud. These videos are very helpful. Some videos you learn something that another doesn't tell you. Thanks edit ... The owner should have replaced the tensioner , idler pully ,hoses, temperature solenoid . Even the radiator has a 85 to a hundred thousand mile life due to the plastic in it. Im replacing everything this month as my truck has 85 thousand miles on it and will last me to my grave. I don't mind spending a little, plus the parts are still good for spares if ever needed on the road.

Great job thanks a lot for the info will come in very handy this week, I was driving my truck home and I smelled radiator fluid open the hood and radiator fluid all over the engine did not find a broken hose so I moved the fan, and the pump pully moved a little. question What's the torque for tightening the bolts and how tight does the radiator bolt for the fan get

Cool, thanks Man. I just hope the Timing cover doesn't start leaking or the Bolts don't seize & brake off like the older small blocks did.

This is a great overview on what to expect to do the job. I dread trying to remove the fan, though.

If you don't have an air hammer AutoZone will let you use their fan removal tool for free but you will need to put a deposit down.

I noticed a small leak and found the o ring was leaking from the inlet tube on the water pump. Part # Dorman 626-603 but I can't find anything on if the tube is replaceable or if I need a whole new water pump. I bought the tube now I'm waiting for Saturday morning to tinker with it. Wish me luck!

What are the two small hoses? One reads "TOP ENGINE". Wondering if it's a good idea to replace as I will replace the thermostat and coolant temp sensor.

You could if you want to. At least squeeze them and make sure they are still nice and pliable.

What the heck kind of cable pliers are those? That's awesome, I was wondering how to reach the hose clamps. I'm not 7'6" tall, nor do I have a top crawler.

The RAM shop time is apparently three hours for this job. Anybody know how many hours it should take with all the tools & a hoist?

Replace the clutch fan with a all electric fan from a 2012 ram V6 and you save lots of time and aggravation and you eliminate the big fan shroud and clutch fan. It will also extend your water pump life and maybe free up a horse or 2. TheV6 fan bolts right on and plugs right in.

Does anybody know where I can just buy the water inlet tube? Something tells me gasket gave out and I have a small leak from there right now.

there's not a 5.7 out there that doesn't need a new water pump between 100 and 130k miles. it may not leak but the bearing goes out in them. if it moves with a prybar it's bad. with the belt off and wiggle the fan the pulley will move. you got 100% lucky getting that fan clutch loose with an air hammer. i"ve changed out 5 of these rams and probably 10 on an S/10 and only like one of them came off with an air hammer like that. and none with hammering on the wrench. I had bought a pulley holder tool. the last ram I did a 2013 I had to have my brother hold the pulley holder and I hand to stand on the adjustable wrench. yes, STAND on it to break it loose. it was as tight as a lug nut. I wouldn't use tap water in a cooling system personally. we have hard water where I live. plus it has chlorine etc. just buy the 50/50 so you get deionized water with no chemicals and minerals to plug up the radiator and heater cores and eat up the gaskets in the engine.

I have done about 5 Ram water pumps as well as other water pumps that have screw-on clutch fans and all have come off easy with an air hammer.
