This error popped up which made me worried as I’m heading out on a massive work tour pulling a cargo trailer full of fitness equip.
-fingered id pull them and take a peek at them prior to ordering parts which I’m glad I did.
Sorry I didn’t get pics prior but after seeing and fixing it I knew this would help the masses.
1x 8mm bolt, tapped to break gunk seal and pulled out.
It was covered with gunk all around.
Simply cleaned them with a dry microfibre cloth.
Tried to pull out what I could with a small screwdriver and pushed the towel in a bit to clean hole.
The L side sensor was about 1.5-2” long and about 14mm think.
Circular in shape.
The R side is same length but looked like it was worn down somehow.
Thinner but just the way it’s designed.

FYI- the sensor is a magnet that produces voltage so metal shavings can reduce its efficiency to the point of setting a code. I have found the same problem multiple times

Just had this error message pop up randomly twice today on my 2015 1500. Hoping this simple fix is the issue. My sensors were caked with dirt so 🤞🏻🤞🏻. Either way you saved me a huge headache. Thank you!!

I just did this to my 2018 Dodge Ram 3500 about 5 minutes ago. The light is no longer on, but it comes and goes while driving. I will update soon if it looks like this truly solved the problem (fingers crossed). That said, there was a mountain of soot all over the sensor, so I think this trick is what it needed.

@@BaconatorJR1 It did, but only for a short time. I had to get rid of the truck, it was having WAY too many problems. I traded it for a 2021 Dodge Ram gas engine. Every time something went wrong with my diesel engine, it was a nightmare getting it fixed.

Just want to say thank you ! I’ve got a 2020 ram, which is kind of similar. I took out the little modular, cleaned it, put them back. The thing was still locked up until I put my belt on and open the door and disengage the brake.

Thanks alot! My driver side rear sensor was super gunked up. Cleaned both and unhooked the battery for five minutes, and went for a ride. Didn't go away right away, but after around 20 miles of driving I haven't seen it come back.

@Balthasarbrin Seems like once I got above 70 abs and traction light kicks on and it says trailer, abs and electronic brake system service, also my cruise won’t work when this happens. I just had new rotors and pads done at les Schwab but did you have the same problem??

Hi there, I have Ram 1500, 2014 and same issue with the ABS and traction control lights on. I just came accross your video after watching numerous videos about changing the ABS sensors, buying diagnostic scan first, etc. I am in Prince George, Canada and its currently snowing with minus 15. Hopefully I can manage to croll under my truck in the morning when it's a daylight and find those rear sensors you were talking about in the video. good luck to me!

My truck started doing that. If you take the hydro boost lines and you shake them, there's a liner on the inside of them. You can see it on the older generation of ram. It would get sucked into the tube going to the hydra boost. If you change the HCU and the ABS module I would consider looking into and replacing those lines. I'm getting mine custom built to where it gets rid of the liner

I am having the same issue on my 2018 Ram 2500! I just cleaned both sensors. You were right they were both caked up with brake dust I guess. Hopefully this fixes the dash warnings. Thank you for posting the video brother!

@@levisouthern4869 no it didn’t fix the issue. My warning lights come and go. The dealership said I need an ABS control module which is on national back order and not expected to be out until July! It’s ridiculous!!

Yesterday my ABS light(s) came on my 2016 RAM truck's dash as I was driving out of the driveway. I took it to my local Dodge RAM dealer. They said the ABS Module had an internal failure. The diagnostic charge was $ 160.00 and the module was about $ 1,400.00. They said it would take about a month to get it in as they only use genuine Mopar parts. My truck is 7 years old with 32,400 miles on it. I purchased the Mo Par Max Care unlimited warranty which covers every thing (5,000) parts. The mileage limitation was 1,000,000 miles. You may say I have a lifetime warranty. That was the best thing I could have done was buy that warranty for my truck and my wife's car. Dodge does not offer that any more. All I have to pay is $ 100 deductible and I'm back on the road.

Damn eh. Redonkulous and they’d prob do exactly what I did and say you got a new module. Lol. Frickin stealers. Stealing Dealers. Lol. No wonder they stopped offering that. I’d be all over that too if avail. You should be able to ask for your parts back. The modules prob still good. I’d get the new one installed, take the OG back install the OG myself just to test and see IF it was the module. If it wasn’t you got a 1400 part to sell for $700. You just made $600 instead of paying $100

My last truck was a Ford F 150 super cab that I bought new in 1988. I kept it for 27 years before selling it. It was costing me more in repairs than I was paying in new truck payments.

I just wiped it clean with a microfibre cloth. You could use some WD40 if wanted, it’ll evaporate and won’t leave a film.

Honestly not sure. I only had to do my rears so far. I’d assume it’s just as easy tho. I never had to remove anything.

Howdy, just saw your message and found it hilarious. They're a high end custom design I made myself. I was driving down hwy and there was a construction pilon that I happened to clip somehow. I have no idea how with my fender flares and the bumper but I remember hearing it. When I stopped it had broke 1/2 the red cover off so I just ripped the rest off and smashed out the other side to match. LOL. I'm too cheap to buy a new set as they still work just fine. It's literally been years and even rain and snow has not killed the bulbs yet. Give me a hammer and pliers and I'll make them for you as well. ;0)

Nope, just a rag. Certainly wouldn’t hurt to use a diluted solution like Zep or simple green but I did my find it necessary. It wiped right off.

I would assume so Aaron. I’m not sure exactly what the common year spread is but it’s a pretty common part. It would only take you a min to figure it out if you can get under the truck easy enough.

Get yourself a tuner or OBD2 reader of some sort so you can find out what the code is and go from there.
