2015 Genesis 5.0 Muffler Delete

2015 Genesis 5.0 v8 w/ 27k miles on the odometer. Was originally going to install electronic cutouts but it is not feasible in California. Instead, I removed the stock mufflers and ran Y pipes to the stock tips. The car is loud for a few days but settles in with a nice deep AMG- like sound. Worth it!

I have an identical 5.0, I added electronic cutout valves between the resonator and mufflers. Makes a muffler delete at the press of a button, then back to stock just as easy. If anyone is interested in an install vid, upvote this comment

The car isn't very loud without mufflers so adding cutouts after the resonators is pretty cost prohibitive for what you get out of it. IIRC mounting them in that spot makes them super visible from behind the vehicle because they sit below the bumper line. Post a vid of your setup, Id like to see it!

Yesss. The V8 Glory. having a few 90's Mercedes and exhaust tuned with deletes. Sounds so similar to the Genesis I frckin love it. Such a magnificent sound.

nick mills Depends on your local laws and your goals. This is just removing the mufflers, simplest and cheapest option. Electronic cutouts are ideal but will cost you close to a grand after installation.

it sounds great , i have the 2015 3.8 genesis sedan with muffler delete , low speeds sounds amazing high speeds has some drone noise that can easily be fixed at your local muffler shop Love it!!! !!

Benjamin Landrum I’ve always had loud cars so I’d say the drone is pretty minimal. Under 2k rpm’s (80mph) cruising on the freeway is pretty quiet but it does start to get a little noisy above that.

I did the rear muffler delete only and then when new pipe was installed I made sure it did not attach to the exhaust tips. Tiny amount of airgap between tips and new pipe. Less resonance through the car that way.

20 mpg average give or take. Fuel economy should not be a huge factor when calculating affordability on a non-commuter car. Get something cheap and reliable that you can keep maintained and topped off without thinking twice 👍🏼

California has the most strict vehicle laws in the country with the exception of rear window tint, so if it’s good here, it’s good anywhere else. Driving out of state will have no effect on you.

Yes with a killer warranty, 10 years/100,000 mi. So even if u find a 16 with low miles you'll get the remainder of the warranty

$1500 for something that was going to be marginally louder than stock was not worth it in the slightest. A muffler delete was $300 and did an excellent job of producing a smooth, deep tone. There was no drone below 2k rpm (80 mph)

It’s not that loud. You can feel the exhaust note in your chest on a cold start but the car is still pretty quiet once warmed up.
