I don't have$500 in tools and I have done this fluid and filter change before. In my driveway. So yeah it can be done and gets done all the time.

@Toki Mechanic, I'm getting ready to change my transmission oil and I appreciate your video. I did not see you change the transmission filter, did I miss something?
@Toki.Mechanic7 ай бұрын
Hi Albert. Yes you have to change the filter too. My camera didn't record that part. Always change the filter.

How did you get the pan out?! The little twist you did typically doesn’t work without lifting the transmission AND pulling down on the exhaust.
@edkay36014 ай бұрын
lifting the transmission does no good the exhaust is bolted to the engine which is bolted to the transmission

Is this all you have to take off to change the accumulator

Sooo, my 2015 has no dip stick or any way to check it...great video but no help😅

i’m trying to accomplish the same process here , how much oil did you use and can use ams oil ? a lot of people have a hard time taking the pan out you did it in 3 sec 😅

You will loose around 5.7 to 6 liters. Yes, on the 2015, the pan came out with a twist going towards the drivers side. Going back in was harder than taking it out. But it will go. 👍

Dropping the pan will not remove all of the old atf so if you add amsoil it will mix with several quarts of the old acdelco atf. It is not recommended to flush the system but if I was switching fluids completely that’s what I would do.

The filter was the black item that he pulled off after he took the pan off.

This is why people don't change tran fluid and filter. This is why most shops will not touch one for a fluid change if the age is 100,000 miles or greater. This is why transmissions wear out and shift rough. This is why. For some of us this is an all day job and hope you have all the right tools. Better hope nothing else is needed for tools or parts and that everything goes at least smooth enough. At least. This why people don't do it and why a hefty shop bill comes with it...and they don't get it done. The absolute genius of an oil pan and one wrench. ONE. No finesse, no wrangling, no tilting/twisting loosening something here to get to something there and hope nothing twist's off, breaks or strips. I guarantee you anyone that does this has more than 500 bucks in tools, simple tools, and still are apprehensive. This is why people don't do it.

I agree. I have a 2015 Sierra 160k miles, and I have about $5k worth of tools, every imaginable air tool and every imaginable torque wrench but after seeing this video there’s no way I’m tinkering with it. My transmission is shifting very roughly lately and I’m concerned something is wrong with toy altogether. Not touching this with 10 ft pole.
