It's becoming increasingly difficult to pick the right 4x4 ute for the right job these days, with carmakers getting more and more competitive with their packages. The 2015 Holden Colorado and 2015 Isuzu D-Max are two of the underdogs in the segment. They aren't the best-sellers but they are respected members of the club. Although they have the same parents and they're both built in Thailand on the same platform, there are many differences between the two. Acceleration is not a useful test. It's a work vehicle. The holden produces 500nm of Torque. This makes it a massively capable tow vehicle. I own one and use it to tow a loaded base station and a very heavy boat. It tows better than my Land Cruiser did with the longer wheel base and uses half the fuel. With laps around Australia including rough out back with the base station. Totally reliable to date. Cheers all.

dmax is much more reasonable to buy. Very value of money for maintainec, fuel consumtion. Still much powerfull for towing, carring, performence. dmax 3.0 only

DMAX is definitely the better choice, its probably the best all round pick up on the market. Great fuel economy, towing capability, reliability. The power matches the chassis well.

***** You realize the torque available in a holden completely disappears as soon as the revs climb, there is no discernible difference in power. Dont be so susceptible to numbers on a spec sheet. But let's see how well you are doing around the 150k mark - good luck ;)

They are 2 different engines, the Colorado being modeled on the 2.8 litre Fiat VM Motori motor, Fiat Chrysler using the deceptive name of Duomax, the Isuzu DMax is the 3 Litre 4JJ1 truck motor, the only motor in the world with a B10 longevity rating.

Don't know the exact figures, but I rented a Isuzu (2014) to move machinery one way about 500km. Back of the ute loaded and towing a large tandem axle trailer, including hills etc I was very impressed. It was at least 30% plus cheaper than any of my other petrol vehicles with no load. Having said that, I wasn't getting my foot into though, just going easy. Was impressed.

I have a 2.8 TD ISUZU part time 4x4 with manual gearbox from 1995. The car is full of dents and has terrible fuel economy. However all these years never let me down and will not stop at anything. Reliability is out standing with very low maintenance cost.

dmax is a clone of the coloardo, though the coloardo storms ahead in every gear that matters, not sure what Isuzu r doing still using 5 speed transmission, holden ford and mazda are all 6 speed transmission manual and auto........
