I just bought the car. Great review however you missed one of the more unique and fun features. While the car is in park It can play DVD movies. Not only can it play them from a DVD it can actually play movies from the cars internal SSD drive depending on the format.

Hi Alex, I love your reviews. They are so good that I find myself watching ones for cars that I have absolutely no interest in. I always find them to be thorough and informative. One thing though that I would like you to add to your infotainment reviews, and specifically as to navigation, is whether or not POI searches, address input and such can be done while driving. I'm not concerned so much about voice input but rather if these things can be done manually. We owned a second gen CTS that would not allow such use and it drove us nuts, to the point that we will probably never buy another GM car unless they fix this issue. At the very least, with sensors in the front passenger seat already there that determine whether or not the airbag is turned on, this sensor could also be used to alert the Nav system that someone is seated there, not driving, and capable of safely accessing the system. We have test driven the new Genesis twice and love it, except for the fact that both vehicles we tested had a vibration issue felt through the seat. Some claim that this is a result of flat spotting on the tires while parked and that the vibration goes away after five or so minutes of driving. Our tests were for a little over a half hour long on the first and over an hour on the second drive. Vibration never diminished on either drive and this quite bothers me. Otherwise, this is a really wonderful car. Thanks!

Actually, Alex, your reviews are great and very thorough, but there's a mistake at around 4:15 in your review. You say that you cannot call out an artist name, or play a song by it's name, but it's not really true. I just bought this car, so I know. When you press the top left button on the steering wheel (It has an icon that is a face profile with sound bars coming from the mouth), it brings up the options built into the car's infotainment system, where you cannot call up a song by artist or song title. However, when you press AND hold the top left steering wheel button , it brings up Siri on my bluetooth paired iPhone. It displays "Siri" on the monitor as well. At this point, I can ask it to play any of the songs on my phone by artist or song name. For that matter, I can ask it any question that Siri would respond to, like, "Who won in the Dodgers last game", "What's the weather like in Sydney, Australia", "Who's the President of France", etc.... Also, I can also press and hold that steering wheel button and ask Siri to read me my unopened text messages, and use Siri to respond to them as well (without ever touching my phone while I drive). The system will read me my text message, and ask me if I want to respond. I can dictate a message, and it will read my message back before sending it out. It's all handled from the button on the steering column, and the microphone built into the car. You also made a mistake at 0:39. The base model has an 8-inch touch screen, not a 7-inch touch screen. I own the Ultimate Package model with the 9.2-inch touch screen.

Thanks for letting me know about the LCD error, I added a note to the video. On the voice commands, I don't consider Siri Eyes Free as a true voice command alternative. The main reason being that there are plenty of iDevices out there that don't have Siri and of course USB sticks with audio files don't have voice commands either. I

Alex, do you know if this upgraded unit will support Apple Car Play and Android Auto like the base unit will? Doesn't seem like it would support that functionality.
@AAutoBuyersGuide10 жыл бұрын
As I understand it no. However Hyundai has not said if it will in the future so that is always a possibility.

your comment about 3d maps is wrong. I saw a middle eastern guy do a review of this car and I saw the 3d map. if you went to navigation/display options I am certain thats where you would find it. its the same in most nav system menus. its by a guy named hasan kutbi. youll see it at around 6.50 of his video

According to tomshardware.com base unit is running some customised version of Android (2.3 gingerbread is their guess) on a single core A9 cortex core at 1GHz, the upgraded infotainment is running an older Intel Atom processor with a Meego operating system. My question is, is there a difference in the interfaces between the 2 systems? And can the Base unit be operated via the control wheel or is it a pure touch screen system? As the version I am interested in does have the control wheel but it's not the upgraded system and apparently dosent have DIS, driver information system, so why include the control wheel if it's only touch... Confused.. Our is not the North American version and we get the multimedia controller in the front arm rest area as well as the back seat armrest on all versions of the infotainment system.
