I bought my 2015 Cherokee trailhawk 4 cylinder for $ 28,000 . I'm getting about 25 miles per gallon average between city and highway which is not bad for such a heavy vehicle I've taken off road several times very capable ordered rock rails for rocky road outfitters yesterday can't wait to get them. Going to be taking the Jeep to badlands in Indiana to test it in the rock quarry

You answered the question I had. I bought a used 1 owner 2015 trailhawk for 10,300$. I love it off roads and in the city. I am beginning to hate it on long trips. When trying to pass slow vehicles on 2 lanes hwys, it feels like an eternity to get around. It actually scares me because it takes a long time.

Also, it is to my understanding that the "manual shifting" is not your typical manual gear by gear shifting. You set the gear for example at 5. It will not shift past 5.

+brilliant joey Not sure--don't remember

+chad haire funny you should ask. I have "rough shifting" from 2-3. They updated and before this it was 1-2 and 2-3. I noticed if I have my foot hard on the gas, it's not rough at all. Go easy and it is rough. I also noticed when I go to put the jeep in gear, foot on the break, press the button there's a popping sound. Guy at the dealership said it always is there. I didn't believe him so he showed me his personal vehicle (car seat in the back) and showed me the same "issue." Other than those two things, still in love with this vehicle as is my kid. Ps. After the update, hammering the throttle from a dead stop is fast as hell. Very responsive.

Great review - I have a Cherokee Trailhawk V6 that I recently bought and it's the best vehicle I have ever owned, out of more than a dozen vehicles, including foreign, luxury brands and other SUV's. It's a perfect balance between city commute and driveability and off road capability. The quality of everything is top notch and with the exception of that little nuisance of auto start-stop, this is an incredible vehicle. I thought the transmission was great but it does require a little bit of effort to cause it to downshift when accelerating. But like you, I feel this is nitpicking, overall this vehicle, when equipped with a V6, is a solid 10. And by the way, you were referring to the narrow running lights as head lights, which they are not.

Have a 2 Door Wrangler w/ 3.6 and 6 speed manual. I love it but am thinking of one of these in V-6 for the 4 doors and basic practicality. Second choice would be a Sahara 4 door. Seems to have he roominess I seek.Thanks for the review. It helps a lot. Now to make up my mind.

+Christopher Stansell The Wrangler is for off road. The Cherokee is for on and off road. With the off road pack it is a great vehicle but that 9-speed tranny sucks. Other than that I don't know what to say...

I like your review. However, before rendering an opinion on the transmission "manual override", you should first read about it and learn what the intention of it is. It is NOT an "auto-stick" like found in many sporty cars such that it would allow you to shift gears manually. Instead, it allows you to set the maximum gear that the vehicle will shift up to. So if you set the gear at 4, the transmission will not shift up past fourth gear. This is helpful when descending down long steep hills, or if you're driving into a strong head wind where shifting to the higher gears can present a situation where the vehicle is frequently up and down shifting, or if you want to use engine breaking to maintain a certain speed going down steep hills. So, with this intention in mind, the vehicle will still shift on it's own, but only within the range of gears to which you have limited it to. The indicator is not showing you what gear you're in, it is showing you what gear you have set as the maximum gear. If you want to see what gear you're actually in, just move the stick out of manual override mode and then back into manual override mode. It will show your current gear when it first enters manual override mode.

Yes I understand that but the fact is this 9-speed sucks and almost put Jeep out of business...it is CRAP. They still cant get it right. Too bad..it is a nice vehicle to drive when it works but too many quality control issues.
@desertrek18 жыл бұрын
Good review and being an owner of a Trail Hawk now for a little over 6 months I would agree with everything in your review. Very capable off road due to the rear locker. Only thing that I have found irritating is the climate control seems to have a mind of it's own sometimes and will not stay in either mode of recirculating on or off. Though after reading many articles it's not just the Cherokee with this issue or just Chrysler products. As far as mileage, as long as I am not a lead foot with my average commute of about 22 miles each way I am actually averaging 22 mpg. This consists of about 12 miles freeway and 10 surface streets. Beats the heck out of my Frontier pickup at 17 mpg.
@chadhaire17118 жыл бұрын
+desertrek It drives great but I wish they did away with that crappy 9-speed.
@desertrek18 жыл бұрын
+chad haire Also forgot to mention mine is the 3.2 V-6 engine. I agree the nine is a bit of a waste. It never ever gets into 9th gear, maybe at 85 on the Interstate but won't hold the gear and ends up back in 8th. Tried it once on a trip to Tucson (living dangerously) just to see if it would go there... I do really like the Cherokee and it tows great behind the RV.
@chadhaire17118 жыл бұрын
+desertrek The later 9-speeds shift into 9th gear.

@cyprowski9 жыл бұрын
It resets every time you turn the vehicle off.
@billl20038 жыл бұрын
WRONG. The only easy way to turn off the auto start/stop is to disconnect the hood open sensor switch on the driver side in the engine compartment (easy disconnect). You will get a warning that the auto start is disabled the first few times you start the car, but it will go away. I have done this and it works.

@courtneybayer25219 жыл бұрын
The manual gear shift is not traditional, if you shift it to 5th gear it wont go higher,but you cant shift through the gate and have it in 9th gear going 60. It's for bad weather and off roading to have more control, not performance like paddle shifters. I own a 2015 Cherokee, the transmission will kick in to 9th gear,but at high speeds and usually on a down grade. Its too tall a gear to keep the car moving under any other conditions.

If a driver is used to switching to manual shift mode per the usual transmissions out there, the 9 speed gearbox will get annoying; as using that system differs from the norm.
