Sold my 2016. Love the bike, but for a litter bike, no gear indicator, no quickshifter, very plain. But definitely a solid bike.
@MrEnglishman69695 ай бұрын
no need at all for a quickshifter or gear indicator on any road bike just more crap to go wrong. Shifters destroy gearboxes and yes gear indicator is nice but for the life of me i can not see why it would make any difference to buying a bike if it did not have one. been riding 42 years and have been fine without any of it.
@@kostasrp6634 I have seen so Many gearboxes damaged thanks to miss use of quick shifters. And that’s a fact. And seen quite a few NEW bikes with gearbox problems thanks to quick shifters. Been riding 43 years and in the trade 20 years and only over the last 5 years or so am I seeing bikes with engine/ gearbox problems and ALL have had quick shifters. Even seen 2023 bike with a fucked gear change shaft. I won’t say the make but it’s not hard to work out which one it is. As it’s the most popular one that puts quick shifters on loads of there bikes. Anyway it’s no big deal I know what I know and have seen. And really don’t care what other people think or buy. But I won’t buy a bike with one. Or if I had to it would have to be a brand new bike and I would just not use it.
@MrEnglishman6969Ай бұрын
@@lord1999ful I would not buy a bike with a quick shifter, no need for them. And to many problems with them. And as for gear indicator yes handy but been riding 42 years never needed one back in the day and still don’t need one.

This is a friggin great review, I had my last bike 12 years ago (ZX7R) which I had to sell when my wee boy came along. Been promising myself a new bike for ages, love the super nakeds cos I cant have a sports bike so this is absolutely mint!!! I really want one, would you recommend the 2015 onwards? I have about 5-6 grand as I cant get finance so any pointers on what to look for? This has been so helpful thanks alot buddy, hope I can find one soon

@@sirdavepercyware-armitagei695 hi mate I think 2014,15,16 are the same model off top of my head . You should pick up a good 2014 for 6k. I paid £7200 but it’s one owner with only 4000 miles. The market is slow at the moment so there are some good deals to be had. I am 56 and my sports bike days are over. I have had 3 fz1 which are also good bikes but this I must say is a cracking bike to ride. Won’t catch you out , build quality really is top draw. I love it

thanks for the reply mate, im out in Paris for the games so I can’t do much at the moment other than look at what’s on offer. If I can get finance then I could get something newer but I might have to try and find a 14 plate. Yours is the forts video I’ve seen, I found a few others but they are all yanks or other non UK. For a beginner like myself, Imma need a gear indicator on the display!!!
@MrEnglishman69696 ай бұрын
That’s ridiculous. Yes they can be handy to let you know you are in top gear saves you looking for 7th gear lol. But not essential at all. Handy yes is it a reason not to buy a bike not at all. To be honest I am gob smacked at that statement, if you have past your test you should know how to ride, you just need to learn how to ride now. Honestly mate get some riding under your belt and you will see you don’t need one. Like I said handy yes but not necessary at all.

Hey was wondering how many miles do you get in a full tank? And what your mpg like? Cheers
@MrEnglishman69695 ай бұрын
No idea mate I take no notice of that stuff I just have fun riding the bike. On all my bikes when I hit around 90 to 100 miles I fill up. Re set the trip and off I go. You should get about 130 to 140 from a tank but no one waits till they are empty to fill up. Apart from my tiger 800 which will do about 200 to a tank , my fz8, cbr929 and my street triple r and this z1000 are all about the same give or take 10 miles. If you really need to know just look up the spec
