2015 Kia K900 - WR TV POV Test Drive

Much like the Hyundai Genesis, of which the K900 is the mechanical twin of the outgoing 2014 model, Kia is fighting an uphill battle to convince luxury car buyers to overlook a badge commonly associated with economy cars and give this sedan a chance. Fortunately for the Korean automaker, it has two very effective strategies in play: make a good car, and substantially undercut the sticker price of similarly equipped models of its rivals.
Like the V8-powered Genesis (both current and outgoing), the K900’s drivetrain consists of a direct injected 5.0-liter motor which outputs 420 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque, and routes that power the rear wheels by way of a ZF-sourced 8-speed automatic transmission. It’s enough to get the 4500-pound K900 to 60 mph from a standstill in a respectable 5.5 seconds while returning fuel economy numbers of 15 mpg in the city and 23 mpg during highway cruising.
Scott McKee, Kia’s PR director, says that the K900 is focused around "at-ease luxury" rather than the tautness of many of its Germanic counterparts, with effortless comfort taking top priority much in the way it did in the American luxury sedans of yore. Items like a configurable 12.3-inch TFT gauge cluster, front and rear individual climate controls, and heated/cooled seats all around are amenities one might expect to see in a vehicle made for the 1% set, but even loaded to the gills with every conceivable option including the VIP package, which adds items like a 16-way adjustable driver's seat, a full color heads up display and a 360-degree Surround View parking system, the K900’s MSRP hits a comparatively paltry $66400.

I noticed you tried to slide it out in one of the left turns, but the AVSM braked even though you turned off traction control.... Quick tip to any other K900 owners: Hold the T/C off button for three seconds and the stability control will turn off too. Word of warning, it gets addicting.

Beautiful car. Love it. I hope to own one. It may have the most comfortable seats and ride of any car on the road except the Rolls Royce models. The cabin is extremely quiet as well. Those of you who are in the market for a premium luxury sedan should take this baby for a drive and be prepared to be very impressed.

I mean, would you pay 50-60 for a Kia with questionable quality of the car? I would like to see one stand the test of time. Have you seen photos of this car? I would too, but BMW... I dunno, tough decision. But no one can say that Mercedes Benz is over-priced, because it is not. Audi is shit actually, having only 10% of its whole car made in Germany! the rest of the 90% is from china. Same goes for the BMW, but BMW actually says it, 65% made in Germany the rest made from China. Kia is aii, better than the Hyundai Genisis

Not every one wants with a V8 wants their car to sound like an obnoxious muscle car, and I would definitely be one of those folks, especially in a car like this. But I can understand some people who would want even this car to sound louder. Fortunately you can make it louder with some relatively cheap modifications to the exhaust system.

This car almost has it right. The up shifts are kinda slow and does that rev hanging thing. I would have to drive it in manual mode and see if it can fix that a little.

The K900 uses the same ZF 8 speed which is found in alot of BMW models. Of course it's going to have the same lever, which BMW did not design.
