Doug seems to not be aware this V8 model is missing the only option package available that would add nearly all the features he was complaining were missing (Ied headlights, cameras, etc.). Doug DeMuro Some people might ask why spend tens of thousands more for a Mercedes or a BMW? As a Korean, I'm proud of what KIA has achieved with this car. I would pay a few thousand more for a KIA for those options if it means saving a lot more than buying a similarly sized and equipped MB or BMW on capital cost as well as maintenance cost.

As a Hyundai and Kia fan, I enjoy when you review their cars. What I would like to add is an explanation of the name K900. That is the US name but in Korea and other countries it is the K9. You see, Kia has gone to an alpha-numeric naming convention for their cars in Europe and Asia. K2 is the subcompact Rio, K3 is the compact Forte, K5 is the Optima, K7 is the Cadenza and K9 is the K900. For obvious reason it was changed for the US. But in other countries it is called the Quoris.

NovaResource As the owner of a 2016 Sonata, it's amazing to see how many parts they reused in this car, fromthe Sonata/Optima line. Right down to the size of the manual and the leather holder. Most of the switches and knobs are the same, the vents, and even the center console and entertainment and climate control cluster is the same of similar. I think that is something the Koreans do amazingly well. They create really great component parts and have no problem reusing them in all models and even makes. And they are so good nobody ever complains. There are things in that used Sonata I got recently that feel as good as any luxury car I have been in.

Doug, As a proud owner of a rare K900 with VIP package, I would like to point out some factual errors in the review. The car you tested is the entry level K900 with premium trim that sold for 54K and not 60K. Next up you had the luxury trim with quad LED lights, larger polished chrome wheels, Nappa leather and additional technology for 60K. When you stepped up to the 66K VIP package, you had full color heads up display with navigation included, industry leading 360 degree camera, reclining rear seats, cooled rear seats etc. The dummy button for headrest that you indicated electrically operates headrest in luxury trim. The dummy K900 button in rear is replaced by power lumbar support. Every entry level car has dummy buttons on dashboard near steering wheel in lieu of actual buttons for advanced functions in higher trims and functionality that customer can add if desired. Oh by the way, the car was tested quieter than LS600HL, S550, 750i and Rolls Royce Phantom. Please get the facts right, thanks...

Exhaust Sports Auto There are car-heads, then there are fashion-heads. Then there are fashion-heads who think they are car heads. Carheads like good cars, popular or obscure. Fashionheads like fashion. It's a two edged sword with fashionheads. While they won't buy a good unpopular car, once it becomes popular they will buy it like crazy, and lecture car-heads on why the car is great, even long after the car no longer is. All Kia has to do is keep going. The ppl who fashionheads like to imitate will start buying a good car, and eventually that's all it takes. It's for Kia to mess up. Personally, I respect Kia for stealing the thunder from the Alfa and the wind from the LC500. Ppl are excited about a (petrol) car again, and who thought Kia would be the brand to do it.

@11:55 The oil change and maintenance numbers can be changed because in "severe" conditions (Canada), we have to change it twice as often as everyone else. We also change between winter and summer tires twice a year instead of "rotating" them.
@IKhanNot6 жыл бұрын
Canada and the US have the same service intervals on their cars. The computer will adjust based on driving conditions, city/hwy mix and driving style if needed. My MB service interval is every 15,000 kms here in Canada. The same car in the states has a 10,000 mile service interval. Works out to about the same thing.
@iSOBigD6 жыл бұрын
Dashcam Dumbasses That's not how that works. Synthetic oil is generally changed after a period of time twice as long as regular oil. If you live in a part of Canada where it snows and it's up to minus 40 degrees in the winter then up to over 30 degrees in the summer, your manufacturer suggests following the "severe" maintenance schedule which mosts cars don't automatically adapt to. You can manually set the km/time. I can leave a car outside for two years and not drive it, that doesn't I have to wait until 15k km to change its oil.

This model seems to be missing 40% of other options that were not shown in this video. This must be an older model. This car is very popular among mid to wealthy class to executives in South Korea and have garnered a lot of attention among other countries as well. It's really a very underrated luxury car as most people will just bat an eye thinking it's KIA. This model line wants to increase their image of quality for the KIA brand. After looking and comparing quality of cars made in South Korea and in the US, for some reason, the quality of KIA cars in its own country (South Korea) are really good and can be comparable to other luxury brands. If you plan on buying ANY KIA cars, make sure to custom order at the dealer and request it be shipped from South Korea plant and not US as certain models do arrive from the South Korea plant.

Daniel Draghici how good dies it actually get? For heaven's sake a c class is better than this piece of junk
@iSOBigD6 жыл бұрын
Savva Moser Does a C class offer tons of rear leg room? Are the rear seats heated and cooled? Do they recline or have rear controls? Is it as quiet or good at soaking up potholes? Does it have wood and leather in as many places? (it doesn't even come with leather standard) Does it have as big of a display? The list goes on. It's fine for a mid size car so it has the weight advantage but it's nowhere near this size and with just a few options the price skyrockets. Try optioning out a V8 S class or even E class to match the K900 Ultimate or a G90 then see how much more you need to pay for something as good or better.

40k even seems like a bad deal. Newest model shown at New York Auto Show looks like Kia still does not get the market outside Korea, which is a shame as I feel Genesis as a brand may succeed globally. Biggest problem with Koreans they want to be German instead of uniquely Korean. Germans do German cars right because it speaks to their culture. Americans luxury seems to be coming back with Lincoln, Tesla, and hopefully Cadillac (once they realize they are not German).

Hi, Doug! I can explain the reason they’ve put the rear lock button on the rear hand rest. The back passengers use it when they want to rest or sleep, leaving their hands on the armrest and they can accidentally change the adjustments and press or scroll different buttons. When you use the lock button, you can have a rest without worrying of turning up heat or something else. Thank you
@moogle682 жыл бұрын
Ohhh, so you're saying that the button on the arm rest locks out all of the button functionality in the back, as well as locking the door? Good idea for a rear seat with so many buttons, makes sense!

Most of his complaints about technology would be addressed of he'd have found a VIP trim model. It is interesting they still have the front seat controls in the rear for a model without the reclining rear seats though. With the VIP package though you get a 360 cam, The 28 way or whatever front seats, reclining rear seats with a cooled function on top of the heated. I'm thinking about picking up a 2015 VIP package for my next car. Definitely a bargain used.

I think the best thing for all of us is to try to convert anger issues into more productive means in order to either better ourselves or make more money. Cussing out random strangers online just seems really unproductive, but may provide some short term gratification in our dopamine seeking crowd living for instant gratification yet feeling spiritually and morally bankrupt and empty.
