2015 Lexus IS 10.25 Android Head Unit Upgrade Installation

Here is the installation of a brand new Android Head unit on my 2015 Lexus IS250 Base. The Head unit was purchased from a user name Iric Tan on facebook. Please leave any questions in the comment section.

Went well, my hand got scratched up haha cuz of all the tinkering with feeding cables. I noticed my rear camera isn't working when I reverse, gonna check it tomorrow. Maybe the cable got lose. Everytime I switch to reverse, it switches to oem blue screen on aux Everytime tho.

Most people also remove the glove compartment which gives you more room for the wires. I'm also planning to do this my stereo on my is300h dab hardly works so need one. Thanks for the tutorial.

I have installed it man! And your turtorial helped me put a lot. I’ve been liking it so far! Just one question, I get no audio coming out in the “andriod system” or whatever it is. For example the downloaded videos that come with it, no audio comes out. Did I plug something wrong? I get Bluetooth audio tho. Just wondering thanks

odd but serious question, if you are on carplay and record a video on snapchat or instagram while playing music does it muffle the sound? i have a cheaper unit and it does that, just wanted to see if it does that with this one before i upgrade, Great video!

I'm not sure because I don't use carplay I have an Android device but when I do it with my phone everything is fine. One weird thing is after I get off a call the music comes back and it's a little muscle and then it goes back to normal after 15-30 seconds

Can anybody confirm that this is a standalone unit? The radio on my IS is dead. This android unit looks like it boots and runs as primary and just runs the factory head unit as it's own media channel.

My unit arrived yesterday and I am installing it now. I am debating whether its worth it to route the gps and speaker to be outside looking cleanly (but lots of work which i don't want to do if i don't have to). Question: how is the speaker and gps working for you them being behind the screen like that? any weak signals or muffle sound? thanks.

I left the speaker inside behind unit (loud and clear enough) . I only use it for turn by turn voice, all other sound go directly to main speaker. The GPS I put it outside cause it was getting confused. Good luck on it, let me know how it goes but I believe it depends on the unit you purchased.

@@luisacevedo8699 wow I finally finished this, what a pain! My unit was a bit different, no external speaker, everything goes through OEM. I actually am connected to the AUX. I do have the mic for phone and GPS I just threw it behind the screen for now. Everything is running smooth. Took me about 5 hours to install.

Hey Samuel, did you try out your girlfriends iPhone? did qLink end up being car play? how do you feel about the unit now? Kind of on the fence, purchased a similar unit from roadtop and it kept burning the nav fuses so i might try this one out.

I would say since you have an iPhone the carplay app is a little bit smoother so it's more of an incentive to get it. If it is an IPhone then yes I recommend it.

No the car does not have to be parked in order to watch videos. As far as a bigger screen working I'm not too sure since I've never seen one. I doubt it though.

@@slappyman50 thanks for the info I saw on a lexus page on Facebook there's another company called vline they also make a similar unit without upgrading the screen it's also around $600 seems to offer the same features as yours without the touch screen and prices haven't gone down for the one you got I think if you are planning on keeping the car for a while it's worth it. Thanks for a great video encouraging me to do it myself if I buy this lol

Don't you have to remove battery first? So that due to any error airbags are not deployed?

I did not have to remove the battery but I did get some weird error and once I turned the car off and back on it went away

You gotta look through the comments lol I know I haven't put out a review yet but I posted my opinion multiple times. Overall it really depends, cause for 600+ dollars I personally don't think you get a lot of value but the unit itself is still a decent add if you have the cash to spare. I still sometimes use the OEM system when I don't want to deal with it lol

Hello, do you have battery drain of the 12v battery when the car is off ? My screen will drain the 12v battery in a couple of days

The ribbon cable is for if the device ever freezes and crashes you can press that little square button and reset the entire head unit

Warning retailers suggest this radio for the 2014-15 is250 & is350 but unfortunately the dash is different from the Is-f-sport. It appears as tho 1st & 2nd gen is250/is350 as well as convertible versions accept same radio design. Please correct me If wrong

Just finished installing my 10.25 android wireless CarPlay unit, everything went smoothly and everything is plugged in. I am getting absolutely no audio what so ever from the unit itself. I am only getting audio from the OEM Lexus interface which I can’t even see actually, when I click on CAR, it brings me to a no signal page when I am supposed to be seeing my OEM Setup screen. Any help?

1. Make sure the audio source is either in AUX or AV. 2. Double check the connectors behind the screen. 3. Double check the sound settings on the head unit. 4. When you scroll the audio knob do you see the audio moving on the head unit?

Check the yellow cables, there's one that says rear. Makes sure it's in the proper slot

How long does it take for the unit to startup? Like if you need to start the car then immediately back up does the back-up camera screen come straight on? Or do you need to wait for it to load and fully startup?

The system takes about 15 to 20 seconds to start up. If you were to immediately start the backup camera it would load the camera except there would be a two to three second delay. There is actually always a 2 to 3 second delay when loading the backup camera

So far no actual issues just the way it operates is a little different so there's some things you might not like but you can definitely get used to. You have to add a Facebook user "Iric Tan". You order through her Alibaba link.

You can't use the OEM microphone with the Head Unit. Android Auto is also wired. You pretty much have to run an emulator and then it can be wireless.

I don't have the touch pad, I have the circle knob. It only works on the OEM hardware.

If you checked all the connections, you might have to try plugging in the OEM system to see if the knob still works. Maybe it's the knob itself or the system. You have to do more advanced troubleshooting to find out where the issue lies. Takes a lot of time but you will probably save the most money

There was no native Android auto app. What it did come with was a phone mirroring app which completely defeats the purpose of why I bought the head unit. The solution to this is buy an app called head unit reloaded which is an Android auto emulator for five bucks.

Samuel, i have 2 questions for you. i got mine already and i noticed that the screen is loose, there is nothing to hold it right, i can tell that you just push it a little to the front and that seems to solve the problem, but mine is still loose. The other question is. i dont know why the unit comes with an antenna if it needs wifi or hotspot for the gps to work, or am ia wrong? is there a way for the gps to work with no internet connection? There is no way for the GPS to work without a data connection I believe. And make sure nothing is been out of place I would double-check and make sure that it is seated properly because the same thing happened to me and I had to fidget with it for it to sit in place

That speaker that comes with it is trash. I hooked my girls speaker because it was annoying. It clicks when your turn signal is on and has a loud door chime. Sounds horrible.
