Just a slight correction. The Bluetooth option under the FM setting is to send the audio direct from your phone to the car, if your car has Bluetooth or a AUX bluetooth dongle, this gives the best audio quality as coming direct from your phone rather than via the screen

Do I understand correctly this setup means the source of music can be your phone, the Seicane pulls the music up via the device link (BT), and is the device controlling the playback, sending the output via BT to the existing car BT receiver? Or; I now send music/phone calls to the car’s audio system via BT direct. The Seicane will become a device in the middle.

@@GerryVeerman More like the second scenario. I've only used with Android Auto so can't comment on Carplay. When turning on screen it first connects to phone via Bluetooth to act as a handshake to then connect via Wifi. Once phone is connected to screen via Wifi the bluetooth connection between phone and screen stops. At the same time my phone connections to a AUX bluetooth dongle made ny uGreen which is connected to my car AUX 3.5mm audio input. The Android Auto screen now acts as 'remote' screen controlling all the normal Android Auto functions, however the sound is being sent directly from phone to the ugreen bluetooth dongle plugged into car, the sound does not go via the screen

Thank you for your video - FWIW - For those considering purchasing this unit - I've purchased one of these Seicane Dashcam/Apple Carplay units, and have installed it in my car. I would say, I have very mixed feelings. After the initial few days of playing with the unit, powering it from the cigarette lighter power, I opted to hardwire it using the provided 3A power adapter. Pretty straight forward install, and I KNOW I've installed it correctly. So here is my feedback: 1. The units feels solid to touch and the display has a good appearance and feel. I like the IDEA of this product, but it has several flaws! 1. even if you mount it sold, it still shakes while you're driving. I fixed this shaking by building a simple block on my 3D printer and stuffing it between the display and the mount from the back (so you don't see it from the front). 2. Audio pass through quality sucks! I've connected my iPhone wirelessly to the Seicane unit, and from there, there is a cable going from Seicane to my car stereo through the Aux input. Comparing the pass through quality to simple direct bluetooth connectivity to my car stereo, I would say Seicane quality is awful. I am willing to tolerate 1 and 2, but then there is 3. Every time I turn off my car, and turn it back on again, I have to do a hard power down on the Seicane unit (holding the power button at the top of the unit for a few seconds), then power up the unit!!! To me, this is the deal breaker! This brings me to 4. AWFUL tech support!!! I've reached out to Seicane, and they have responded quickly (within 24 hours), BUT the quality of support is really really really BAD! After a few emails going back and forth, they came back with requiring me to do a firmware upgrade. I have no problem with this, BUT the documentation they have provided and the video makes you laugh and cry at the same time! First of all, everything is in Chinese (at least all the important stuff). They have also provided an .mp4 video to download, which is supposed to help! The video is absolute utter rubbish! I am really disappointed with Seicane!

And also I need to mirror screen from my phone right ? That isn’t really a deal . Better to stick a tablet on the dashboard Which is way more useful

if your going to use the aux lead I would suggest picking up a ground loop isolator they are only a few quid and can get rid of any interference you may be having

I am genuinely surprised at the actual quality of this - no weird English translations, seems to be well made, lots of options and a reasonable price - very tempted just for the dashcam facility and the added benefits of Carplay - with some careful hiding of the wires it could easily look stock 👍

@@Hayro3500 It arrived and works well. I didn't bother with the reversing camera, small car so there is no need. My iPhone connects every time, it takes about 60 sec. I have had a couple of lock-ups, where it becomes unresponsive. The next time I got into the car, the issue had resolved itself. Given the cost of under £100 I can't complain.

If you are using android auto look elsewhere, full screen android is awful with everything stretched. After update it's very good, just delete storage from android auto on phone

You actually can't connect your car radio 2 that device if you purchase a small little thing that goes in your cigarette lighter 10 €15 basically what you do is you turn your radio to say 98fm and on the little device in the cigarette you sync that to 98fm Ideally you would choose a frequency that is not usually used as once they are matching that is all that is because it works by Bluetooth it will look up with any Android device and allow any music to come through the speakers on car

I have seen a newer version of this device that had BT as an option to connect to the car audio. Maybe it only works if a phone is not paired via bluetooth :). FM is about same quality as most bluetooth implementations, so no great loss.

These units are bulk made and sold and various brand names from different Chinese sellers, at varying price points. Seicane seem to be one of the cheaper prices, but the unit is the same. The companies don't provide any firmware updates, so what you get is what you are stuck with when you buy them, like the full Andorid based head units.

Great review! What is the height of the screen. The ad says 193 mm but that can't be correct. Guessing it's 93. Does the internet radio work ok and if wired via aux can steering wheel change volume etc.? I've got DAB at the moment. Great video, but I see you're in the UK somewhere where, if movies and TV are to be believed, it rains constantly, so the climate is cooler. Since this thing is glued to the dashboard via the sticky tape, I have to wonder how it performs in the heat. I live in the US, where extreme heat *and* humidity are a real problem for electronics. I have a big thermos for my phone (work in a secure facility, phones not allowed), I have a couple ice packs and a quart Ziploc bag in there, so I have the packs frozen, put my phone in the bag, seal it up, it's good for about 12 hours, and I'm not cooking my phone. And not all screens are ready for the heat.
