I would definitely get the hybrid because i would save gas and overall it wouldn't automatically be sporty it would be more relaxed to drive it.

There is one point in this review, I need to correct. I am not sure about 300h, but for 200t, when you switch to sport mode, or any mode, the suspension doesn't change anything. It is just the steering, engine rev and transmission will map to different setting.

I love love love the interior of the IS as well as this thing. I would definitely pick the gas Turbo engine.

Nice vid! Big fan of your work here. I must point out towards the beginning of the video you drew a parallel between the Camry and ES350 (and Rav4 to this vehicle), but the current generation ES350 is now based off of the Toyota Avalon.

Motoman -- thanks so much for the detailed take....One clarification -- What might you mean by "can't see out of it" -- I get that visibility might be poor, but can you expand? Is the poor visibility unsafe? Thanks!

I'm a car guy but simplicity is king. Once I went hybrid I won't go back. Pulling up to a stop light and the engine is still running? That's a thing of the past. Tooling around in traffic less than 25mph with gas? That's a thing of the past. I would feel foolish buying only a gas powered car. Complicated 6, 7, 8 speed automatic transmissions? Ancient technology and a thing of the past. Smooth CVT please. My choice would be NX300h. I currently own an CT200h and, sadly, until Lexus updates their infotainment system, I won't touch a Lexus. It is absolute garbage. It needs Apple play to be useable. However, once I have my own place, Tesla.

I would by the hybrid but if the turbo was in front of me in black I would drive away as happy. I don't like the plastic in the wheel arches an option to have them color matched would be nice

I'd honestly take the NX200t only if I can't find a GLK250 (or the 350 with Daimler's version of the Pentastar V6) around anywhere.

You compared the Camry and the ES 350, but the ES 350 is now based on the Avalon...not the Camry. Good review though.

I`d go for eAWD hybrid. Saying that, when compared to RAV4, the utility of this Lex is way too much compromised for me. Especially then new RAV4 is very utilitarian vehicle. I hope they keep some styling but go back to being more usable vehicles. Both NX and RX.

The NX is ugly on so many levels its not even funny ... I usually tolerate misfits & weirdos ... But This, This I Can Not Do. The roof between C & D Pillars & top part of the taillights reminds me of the Citroën DS4. I'd rather pick something else entirely, but if I must , I'd get the 200T ("Performance") because I like to go out and drive (my therapy) & an appliance might not cut it. Which one would you rather have? A BMW X1 or a Mercedes GLA250 or the Lexus? S always. Excellent video M.

The 2016 Hyundai Tucson and 2015 Kia Sportage look much better than this. Lexus seems to be confused. If it wants to be compared to BMW and Mercedes Benz, it needs to make better designs than this. Lexus needs to replace its design team ASAP.

People are funny. If you give this vehicle to people for a review without tell them anything. They would probably go on about Lexus's build quality, comfortable ride, quiet cabin, details ...etc.. But as soon as they learn this vehicle is based on rav4 platform, then they would jump to something like blah blah ...this is expensive rav4 ... They're so stupid and their mind are stuck with "rav4 platform" without seeing the rest of Lexus in this car.

I feel sorry for any passengers that ride in the back. The back seat is so uncomfortable. The Toyota Rav 4 is superior to me. I have driven multiple Rav 4's and had fun with all of them.
@jwhyte42039 жыл бұрын
I'm sick to death with acronyms.....what does CUV stand for? I REALLY wish you handnt told me its directly related to the RAV4, that will simply dilute the brand value of Lexus even further. And i'm struggling to find it's raison d'etre, Lexus make small medium and large luxury sports saloons so the only sort of reason for this is the slightly elevated ride height and view forward. You dismissed a major flaw that being very little view out the back. Lexus sadly, in the relentless pursuit of profits, before cars, have resorted to form over function. Not sure how something so small could be compared to a Q5, perhaps you meant the Q3. The Q5 is a size comparo with the RX series, also available as a hydrid. And if you really wanted a 'bulldozer' they have the tarted up Landcruiser with a V8 slung under the bonnet, to move well over 5000lbs of mass metal. When the LS400 was launched it was a true luxury alternative to the Germans, and in fact sat them hard on their fat arses when it launched in Europe. Now they have lost all that mojo by trying to be all things to all people with a vehicle of every size, for all seasons. Perhaps if they didnt wear the terrible millstone of being a direct subsiduary of the King of recalls they may not have been overtaken by the profit imperative.

The NX 300h is the worst looking SUV in this segment. The front grille reminds me of the Kia Sportage, whereas the rear design reminds me of the Hyundai Tucson and Mazda CX-5. And the interior of the NX 300h looks outdated... like something from the 1990s.
