Before you attempt to splice in the new vent valve, be sure to check with your Mercedes dealer as apparently there is a new addendum to the warranty that will cover this problem for 15 years on US models.
That being said, this is a much cheaper DIY repair for the dreaded P052E Crankcase Vent Valve check engine fault code compared to taking it to the dealership or replacing the entire part that Mercedes says to replace if it is out of warranty. You can buy just the vent valve and splice it into the expensive part Mercedes says must be replaced. It is also much, much easier to do this job. I also tackle a P0597 error code by replacing the thermostat and housing. On the GLA models, if your thermostat has never been replaced, you should replace the thermostat if you are going to replace the crankcase vent valve since 95% of the labor is part of changing the vent valve. Plus, the thermostat and housing (sold only as one unit) is about a $60 part, so do yourself a favor and replace both at the same time.
