I disagree with the lowering springs. You should never install lowering springs without adjustable and shorter shock absorbers. doing that will make the car bouncy, not hace the designed shock travel, overheat the shocks and eventually blow out the seals. personally I would NEVER change springs on this car. The suspension is perfect from the factory and yould have to push the car really hard to get it anywhere close to it's limits. if you have a base gt I'd swap to the performance pack springs shocks and roll bars. that said it's your car and your money

3star2nr It depends, the performance pack shocks for example are sold in ford performance's after market handling kit with their lowering springs and it stays completely under warranty. That's a 1inch drop. Now if you want to go more then 1 inch you'll start seeing issues but a small drop will improve your handling with the performance pack shocks.

I see there is alot of argument over if a tune will void your warranty. I have worked for ford and directly dealt with warranty concerns regarding power train and modifications. 1st, a tune will void your engines' warranty. The pcm clocks engine run time. When you reprogram the pcm, the engine run time is reset to zero. If you blow a motor, the very first this the dealer will do is look at the engine run time. If it does not correlate with the mileage of the vehicle, they will know something has been changed and will void the warranty. Good luck winning a case in court. 2nd, the warranty will still stand on the rest of the car. Any component that is modified will lose its warranty. Keep in mind that the dealer must prove without a doubt that an aftermarket component caused the failure of a factory component.

First tint windows Then X pipe JLT oil separator Clutch spring Roush cold air intake Nitto NT555 Those are my first mods on my 2019
@dtm4trix9 жыл бұрын
I think I'm going to do my cat back exhaust first....along with the oil separator. My second mod is going to be a Roushe Coilover suspension system. I was talking to the service manager at the Ford Dealer ship and he said I should wait for a Ford Racing Tune that should be coming later this year or early next year. This tune will not void your warranty. So when the tune comes out then I'll add the cold air intake. These are all good mods that you mentioned and should act as a good guide for people like me to begin. Thanks

Just put an order in for a 2017 GT Premium with performance pkg. My Liston priorities would be: 1. Oil Catch 2. Exhaust. (Because screw that damn resonator.) Roush active quad exhaust seems nice. 3. Springs/struts 4. CAI 5. Tune. S/c or turbo can come later. Would do some appearance modifications first.

I got all of the mods you had in your top 5 except the spring lowering on my 2015 GT w/the performance pkg. I did however, get some Steeda suspension parts to take away the terrible wheel hop my Mustang had. The wheel hop I had was so bad, it was dangerous. I think the suspension parts was a better investment than spring lowering IMHO.
@jasonthomas56099 жыл бұрын
I think your top 5 is on par for the most part, but I would tweak it a bit. With the wheel hop issues with our 2015, adding more power right off the get-go won't be too helpful without planting that power to the ground. I would incorporate the 3 sub frame items to eliminate wheel hop and then pursue power or looks. Understanding the items are on back order..., but still important to improve the overall traction and drive-ability.

I was told cold air intakes were the worse thing you could do to your car. I have a 2015 GT, and my ford mechanic told me putting a CAI would hurt my engine. Basically saying Ford isn't going to design a good engine and put a shitty stock intake. I'm on the fence about it, not sure if I should get a CAI.
@nobodyspecial3138 жыл бұрын
+Alexander The Greek. You will see no benefits from an aftermarket CAI and lose the weather protection of the stock airbox in the process. Unless you're doing a major intake modification (i.e. turbo) that requires removal of the stock airbox, an aftermarket intake is just an appearance item.
@GuytheCarGuy8 жыл бұрын
Aftermarket intakes are often larger diameter. This allows them to flow more air. Now, if you upgrade the throttle body to a slightly larger size, you can greatly increase the air mass and flow amount. Even with a stock throttle body, you do get a mean increase in airflow. Any handheld tuner application can show you the change in air volume. More air = more power. Is it a nutty amount of power? No. It's between 5-15whp. To get that extra hp, you do need to reset the factory tune and adjust the settings for the higher air mass. Otherwise the computer will just set the timing and fuel delivery to compensate and end up netting a 0 gain... but with about a 1mpg highway fuel savings (because it will run itself leaner to keep the car in the baseline performance tune). This will also sometimes make the car hard to start when cold. In summary, yes, if you do not retune the car, you will net a 0 gain. If you reset the tune with a tune for your new CAI, you'll net somewhere between 5-15whp. I say 5-15 because you have standard, conservative, and track tunes that will either try and maximize hp or offer variable compromises in regards to power and fuel economy. If the stock air boxes were so good, they'd use them on professional track cars... But I haven't seen a stock Mustang air box make a lap at Sebring yet this year, for good reason.
@GuytheCarGuy8 жыл бұрын
The 15 has the same motor as the 11-14. Only difference being on the lower forged internals and the different intake runner valves. Still, all internal combustion engines work on the same principle: Air + fuel + spark = ignition. More air + more fuel + spark = bigger ignition. Thus, CAI will usually increase power... HOWEVER!!!!!! I wouldn't waste money on them because $400 for a 5hp increase on a street tune is almost the worst return on investment you can get if it is one of the only mods you do. Mainly because the S550 already has a CAI from the factory and you're only upgrading the diameter of the air tube. Swap the factory filter for $25 to a performance filter and you're like 90% of the way there... because the filter is the largest obstruction, and the increased diameter adds very little added efficiency really. You need to max out your airflow for other reasons when you're using turbos or performance cams / intakes and so on... but for near stock applications, Ford's stock air box is very good. You upgrade the air delivery when you need it or you kind of waste money. The S550 responds much better to exhaust upgrades (mainly that godawful Euro midpipe).
@Brizzle2938 жыл бұрын
The Ford mechanic has to be dumb as hell! Ask your mechanic why the gt350 and gt350r come stock with CAIs if they would hurt the engine? A CAI will NOT hurt your engine at all, but you will not see a huge gain in power either. Now pair up a CAI with a tune and larger throttle body and you will see an increase in power.

On my 15gt if i were doing it all over again, i would not add lowering springs without having matching shocks and struts. You should have correct rebound and compression when changing either. Stock shocks will work, but the ride is not stable at high speeds.

I also think you should do wheels and tires before the lowering springs and kick that off your list! Decent video but for the people who don't want to void there warranty I'd have to say full exhaust with high flow cat's. Kooks makes a great high flow green cat pricy though. Replacing filter with a better high flow filter keeping stock air box. Springs are fine but wouldn't go more than an inch unless you want to start replacing things camber plates ect. Most definitely tires. The car barley stays on the road with the pzeros. Trash tire with no grip. I know it's not a supersnake but 435. How in that car with 255's is dangerous in my opinion. 265 front with 305 with Micks is what I'll be rocking soon. People's preference on that though.

Duncan Lee no, it does not. the PP is basically: larger radiator, the Brembo brakes (that you'll fucking love), the bad ass spider web wheels (wax them when you get the car, the brembos will dust them up pretty quick), and chassis stiffeners.....sway bars, K-brace, strut tower brace...... @Kinjirra8 жыл бұрын
Ok one you apparently dont know what a catch can does or seen one work...so much for your master mechanic. Secondly adding an aftermarket part does not void a warranty unless it can be proven in a court of law that said part caused a failure. So If I do headers back and my alternator goes out guess who is paying for the new part...sure wont be me. As for adding a Tune yes they can see that are a dealership...if they look and again same as above it had to be proven to have caused the failure. Third try using some periods in your sentences...crap is hard to understand.
@lolley11007 жыл бұрын
Oil catch cans are definitely worth the money bro, I've got pics after cleaning the throttle body at 20k miles, installing it, and checking it at 40k miles with significantly less gunk factor on my personal mustang. Well worth the money considering these cars factor gunk build up and open the throttle wider at idle over time. If you actually WERE a mechanic as myself, you'd know that on high mileage mustangs that get tuned for whatever reason, the throttle body resets back to zero and the gunk build up suffocates the engine resulting in a crappy idle unless it's cleaned. But I've never seen this issue if there was a catch can installed earlier in it's life. Now moving on to warranties. I've had it with "experts" saying such and such will completely void the warranty. This is NOT TRUE unless the dealership can provide valid evidence that the aftermarket part resulted in the failure! This is LAW!!!

Fun fact, long tube headers on a car that doesn't have an increased lift cam(s) or at least 10lb of boost will actually rob you of about 5hp over what a set of shorty headers delivers. Long tubes are great for turbos and high boost superchargers or cammed NA engines. Anything under 15lb boost or stock cams favor short headers. Shorties also weigh a good deal less and if you're a road track driver like myself, most aftermarket premade long tubes are non compatible with aggressive lowering kits and high speed track work (they bottom out).
