2015 Numark NS7 III - Rane One & Pioneer DJ REV-7 Killer?

The NS7 III is from 2015 and I'm going to go over a few things features that the new Rane One and newer Pioneer DJ REV-7 just can't do. Sometimes old gear is better.

I love mines as well. But thankfully I have older versions of serato. I had to soft reset my laptop because it was clitching out. And the new version of serato was telling me it doesn't support the ns7ii. That worries me. I'm going to have to get me a new controller eventually.

Great post and great opinion. But if we are using the "compare apples to apples" theory, there is absolutely a huge difference between the controllers. I have since owned the first NS7 and have repaired dozens of the Numark NS7 I, II and III. I'll try not to be too specific or technical as everyone is entitled to their own opinion and of course my comments with all due respect to the post and onlookers. Rane One controller doesn't even compare in the feature to feature category but this is on purpose for Rane as they have anther model coming with effects. Its a cat and mouse game with the gear manufacture. Beat grid, category selections can be selected on the Rev 7 itself and since midi was introduced, almost any button can be assigned to perform any function in Serato but since software is needed from a computer, something simple like that can be selected from the mouse. NS7 has no parts manufacture whether 3rd party or in house. A component changer is what's needed with the NS7. Support for parts for all Numark controllers will be only available thru supply chains online and while supplies last since InMusic acquired most top branded pro audio companies such as Rane, Denon, Alto, Ion, M-Audio to name a few. It's the takeover so be careful on your future purchases. Pioneer is top gear competing against InMusic products. Each are using cheaper components and electronics schematics show flaws for engineers and techs that have to maintain these machines. Pioneer has their shit together in this department moreso than the competition. Numark Scratching on the NS7 is terrible in comparison to either the Rane One or the Rev 7 based on newer technology of the top faders offered by the manufacture. Rev 7 is on order for us at GoTo Tech Guys but I have had my hands on it and as of today will be the one of the top controllers in many DJs eyes based on the great features of the DDJ-S9 2-Channel battle mixer that's included in this one piece setup. Pioneer will be implementing their version of the Rane Twelve in the near future. You heard it first!

People bitched so much about that controller. Too heavy, mirror styled layout, freezing platters and ugly red lights. I'd take this over the Rane or the Pioneer.

My complaint when I had it was actually with Serato. I didn't like the software layout and couldn't marry traktor pro with it so I traded it in. Was fantastic for a vinyl DJ perspective.

NS7 is well design and has a lot of functions. It also is big, heavy and has quality issues. I got the rev 7 becuase of the S7 battle mixer in the center and my muscle memory is from turntables. But you are right, NS7 makes a lot of logical sense in design. nice review bro!

Hi, nice video man.... i had a ns7 II and it has everything (allmost). The rev 7 its very nice (as big as the ns7, but too expensive), but i still prefer the rane one ONLY because its more compact and lightweight. The Ns7II its a little too big for me, but its a great controller (Still in 2022). :D

I love the NS7III. Absolutely amazing controller that is feature packed. I bought one last summer for a great price in mint condition, still had the plastic on the screens and even came with an Odyssey Rolling case. So far this thing has been solid all the way around. But It's a tank so make sure you're doing your dead lifts if you're a mobile DJ like me.

I think you bought my old NS7III. I sold it with a black Odyssey case. Anyway, I always loved the NS7s (had an NS7I as well). NS7III was just too heavy with that case. IMO Rane 1 platters feel more like 1200s. As for the features... i guess im old school, so 3/4 of that stuff i don't use.

Yeah, I sold mine and went back to turntables with the reloop elite mixer and use the phase most times. There are days where I miss my old Ns7III.

Been using the Numark mixstream pro since Christmas, Quality product especially for the price. That NS7 was always so cool to me tho and they should make another updated version. ☺️

They did. Rane One has numark parts in it. InMusic just changed marketing amongst their product lines and rebranded it as a Rane.

The ns7ii will always be a better controller than the competition. No controller will ever be built as well or with as many awesome features. I love how mine is hooked up with turntables on either side with DVS functionality. Moving platters with actual vinyl, slipmat, and a direct drive motor. Touch sensitive knobs, akai mpc pads, 4 channels, dedicated thumb position hot cues for scratching. I can hardly remember it all. Not to mention for $1,900 you are already well out of controller territory and into actual gear and turntable territory. You don't spend 2k on a go-cart, just buy a freaking car!

I have my Rane One paired to my iPad using Algoriddim Djay app..With this set up l have been able to midi map a whole lot custom settings including the ability to change Effect 3 on either deck to cycle through all the effects..

Great video. I really wanted to get the rev7 but I’ve had the NS7 iii for almost 3 years now. The only issue I have is channel 4 on the NS7 iii, does not play any audio. I can only use it for a microphone input. It’s very weird.

I have th ns7 and the ns7III. I still want the pioneer but really don't go out enough anymore to justify the purchase... might just upgrade my mac.The dashboard works thru serato so it will probably work with the rev7 also..

This controller badass was on the verge of buying until someone persuaded me to buy Denon CDJs . NX7 111well ahead of its time . But if its not supported by Numark you cant upgrade anything .You can dual map affects at the touch of a knob . I guess you could do it on a Rane but it would require midi mapping online serato affects . It will be like the legendary technnics a modern day classic , tempted to buy one .

I know this comment is late but probably coz i sold my ns7ii and probably biggest mistake i did so looking for another with screens or of course the ns7iii . Best controller by far in my opinion, it doesn't feel like a controller it is a mean piece of pro dj hardware and becoming harder to obtain. I suprised Numark didn't make a lose on these units tbh. Never will they make anything like this again now though due to Dennon taking over 👌

the NS7111 is great but its fucking huge.The Rane one is the first Controller from Rane and its pretty good for a first go at a controller.The rev 7 is on a whole other level.Some like mirrored modes some dont.The Rev 7 is directed at people that came from turntables so they have their pitch faders at the top which also saves space and weight .I have Rane 12s mk 2s and the Rane Seventy two mk2.

Just sold my ns7 II with flightcase and stand... I loved it, was my first controller after vinyl. I wanted the scs1d+m, had it for a few weeks, Ever since I miss the motorised pitch slider with multiple layers, but the wobbly platter was a crap on it. This IS a tank especially with the OG case. 34 kg! And the handle on the wrong side. I’m 2 m tall, but can’t carry around. Got no idea why people want tank things! If you buy a case 4 it, does it matter at all? Nope Rane 12 is an empty steel case with a motor. I never had any Pio stuff, but maybe the rev7 will be that first. Waiting for the IM’s answer for it first.... I was begging for battle style, Screen in moving platters middle for 10+ years... since i tried sldz1200... what took sooooo long? Still miss the reverse knob on the rev7... what a cheap solution .... Would need 4 x 10 inch platter snd an NS7 2/3 mixer in the middle. Or a vestax pmc37 kind of stuff but with real 4ch But no red pls! Red is for red, green is for green! Will be an intetesting year I guess

I just don't buy anything by InMusic anymore because of all the issues I've had with their kit. A Denon MCX8000 that was so troublesome. TTX1 Turntables whose motors just died suddenly (3 all at the same time). So I stick with Pioneer these days and as a hip hop/open format DJ who came from vinyl/DVS, the Rev-7 is utter perfection.

All these controllers are nothing more than dj tools so if one can do the same thing in a diffrent way , it might be just a waste of money . but also staying on top of your game may require up to date stuff so yea.

I've got all the Numark ns7, ns7ii and ns7iii. The Ns7iii is allowed to update on serato and Mac where as the ns7/ns7mkii doesn't allow future updates so no Catalina or latest serato, so the ns7mkiii it's future proof so far, all numark ns7's controllers are beasts in controllers even beating the best controllers out there, the rane one is basically a ns7iiii as they are are owned by the same company (in music) the weight of numarks are heavy but the are solid also note if you have change the channel faders it's a nightmare as I did once on the ns7mkii, overall Numark has built a product to last thats why no more moving platters from them, if the Numark ns7mkii/iii was released today it be up closely priced with the Pioneer rev7 giving it serious competition, well done Numark.

The rane one was a downgrade version of NS 7 in most ways. Weight and size was the main improvements of rane one,which to be fair is not a small thing but they added effect pedals and that's all. Now when it comes to Rev7,honestly i cant afford a Rev7 and i have huge love for NS 7 and much respect for it,but honestly the only thing that i honestly can say that people care from the features the rev7 lacks is the 4 channels. Outside of the 4 channel for the biggest majority of people every other feature missing on rev 7 from ns7 is not that huge of a deal. Honestly if any feature that a typical 2 turntables and one battle mixer offer you exist on your controller then your controller has more than enough feature to use it professionaly.

NS7 3 is heavy as hell no one wants to carry that to a gig. The biggest design flaw of the NS7 series is the pitch sliders are on opposite sides i still have no idea why they didn’t correct that after the 3rd unit.

I still haven't bought any of these controllers. I started on 1200s so thats what Im used to but these controllers still persist to use these small 45record size jogs. Why do they never go as big as possible if your coming off the 1200s you either used 12 or 10 inch tcv why cant the motorized platters be like the Denon sc3900s or the Stanton 1d both being the only controller turntables Ive ever felt comfortable on and why all the buttons we don't need all that our performance is geared towards the turntable. I would gladly sacrifice some buttons for larger platters. But hey thats just me...

I love my NS7ii that needs repair and bought ddj1000srt and prefer my Numark ns7ii. I cannot justify spending more on new shit when the old mastered it many years ago. Also He Said Something About The Quick Looping On The Rane And Rev7 ............ But On The NS7ii & iii If You Press The Cue Button Above The Pads Twice (Turns Amber) You Can Do Set A Quick On The Fly Loop And Adjust The Lenth With Parameters Buttons ....................
